Equipment: Fujitsu TablePC with .wav software, external mic, external speakers, headset speakers and disposable camera with 800 speed colored film.
SPIRITS Members present: Brandy, Denise, Evie, Mary, Kevin, Amy and myself.
My team consisted of Brandy and Kevin. Denise, Evie, Mary and Amy comprised the 2nd team for our silent walk through.
Home – very pleasant home, Homeowners present, one male and one female with 2-dogs, three cats, bird cage with finches as well as fish tanks. It is of note that this home has multiple tv sets and recording playback equipment that was closely monitored for possible sources of EMF readings. It was determined that very little if any interference came from these stations. Tile and wood flooring through out the home.
Temperature readings through out the house averaged 77-78 with readings dipping as low as 75 degrees in the guest bedroom.
Silent investigation reveled very little with anomalous EMF spiking, one “washing chill” felt by Kevin first then myself. The only significant room of activity, and this was very weak though consistent, was in the guest bedroom. Here again, was a very distinct “washing chill”. With Kevin standing on the east side of the bedroom, I’m positioned on the south end and Brandy is on the west side, a “chilling” feeling starting with Kevin, moved to me then to Brandy. In this room we encountered EMF spiking that would respond to questioning. Again, mostly weak spikes occurred.
This is the only room of interest. Some slight activity with EMF in Master bedroom and bathroom. My team did unplug and turn off various pieces of equipment to eliminate or reduce any false-positive reading from EMF detector.
Group Discussion:
Denise: Felt strong “will” upon entering house, strong enough to be male. Also felt considerable weaker female presence with the names of “scooter” and a Ha-a- sounding like Heather or Holly. Suspected a female relation trying to coming through.
Amy: stated she felt heaviness in the kitchen.
Mary: Reports steady temperatures. A couple of orbs photographed in the living room corner and by kitchen cabinets.
Evie: No EMF readings that were not related to a detectable sources.
Kevin: As stated above, felt “washing chills” in hallway between office and bathroom and in guest bed room.
Brandy: Reports no orbs but positive EMF readings mainly in guest room. Some positive readings, but weak, in Master bed room and Master bath, though a wall mounted hair dryer was determined to give off EMF detection within 3-4 feet of it’s location. Brandy also reported that she thought she peripherally saw a movement, low to the ground, move like a spider would move or scurry. Brandy reports this movement held no light or dark color perception. Her response to my question on color she said, “it was clear”.
The group decided to attempt EVP in the guest room even though it was determined that the presence trying to come through was very weak.
EVP:
Total recording time – 0:31:27.00
0:3:19.12 – Entity wants to enter or join with Denise. This is denied. On play back there is a distinct disruption or breakup in the back-noise on the recording.
15:34:92 – Strange rubbing sound as if mic is being handled though no physical contact is being made to the mic. I have heard this “rubbing” sound on other recordings and have discounted it. I’m going to start keeping track of this as we do ask the entity or spirit to “come close to the recording mic” and other recording equipment present during an investigation.
0:19:51.28 – After group agreement, Homeowners are brought into the EVP session. This is done due to the overall weakness of the entity. It is Denise’s impression that this entity is either very recently deceased or is a very old.
0:20:59.11 – Female home owner gives mother’s name. Here the EMF spikes in rapid succession.
0:25:22.31 – “are you (mother’s name spoken)? Stonger single spike.
0:25:33.84 - “did you die within the last year? Several smaller spikes.
0:26:22.92 - here there was a discussion with homeowners for name verification. It was determined that the entity trying to come thru was in actuality 3-sisters. Irene, Polly and I did not catch the third name. It turned out that the name Scooter was the name of a recently acquired pet by the home owner’s daughter who lived just down the street.
0:28:09.40 It was determined that Scooter was a way for the sisters to validate they were coming through.
Impression: During the recording it is apparent that when questions were placed to the spirit our EMF detector would give off dual or multiple weak spikes. Brandy requested that the spirit try to give just one strong spike instead of multiple weak spikes. Of note on playback of recording, it appears that the 3-sisters were together or one sister was bringing in the other two. Whenever a direct question was placed
to a spirit by name, a single strong spike was recorded. However, when a more generic question was asked, as in “what is your name?” or “are you related to the home owners?” we would receive the multiple weaker spikes. Could this have been an attempt by all 3 spirits to each answer these types of questions as opposed to the specific question of “are you Irene?” where a stronger single EMF spike would occur?
Though there was no obvious EVPs recorded there are a couple of strange breakups of background noise in relation to specific events as in the initial statement. However, at the very tail end of the recording there is a very unusual sound like an engine starting up then it just disappears. It is not like a car or motorcycle drove off with the noise diminishing into the distance, it just ends. I did not notice this sound while recording was taking place and it is only on playback that it is evident.
Overall impression: This is a very pleasant home with very friendly home owners. I was not part of the home owners review as Denise had requested during the EVP recording to make note of a certain event during the session. It was agreed by the group that the homeowner’s mother and 2-aunts were trying to take advantage of the SPIRITS presence to relay to the homeowner that they were together and happy.
The home owners very generously donated a very nice digital camera to our team and we are both delighted and grateful for this thoughtful gift. Thank you very much!

Mary's Report
Start: 6:30 pm End: approximately 9:30 pm
Weather conditions were clear
Equipment: Infra-red/thermal cameras, digital cameras, digital recorders, EMF meters, video recorders, and other EVP recording equipment
Present: Brandy, Amy, Denise, Debbie, Kevin, Evie, Mary and 2 homeowners
During the initial walk-through, there was very little variation in temperature or EMF readings. The only significant one was in bedroom #1 where there was a very high reading on the wall to the left of the door. It was determined that there was a fish tank in the living room just behind this wall. Further checking showed that the filter area of the fish tank was emitting the same high reading, givng this a natural rather than paranormal explanation.
The group identified bedroom #1 was the area of pre-dominant interest. Denise stated that she felt that there was a female family-member entity who had crossed over who was trying to give the homeowners a message. This entity was weak, but was able to communicate by causing EMF spikes. Also, during the questioning, the temperature fluctuated, dropping from 78 degrees to 74.0 with an average of 75.0. When the questioning was over, the reading returned to a steady 77-78 degrees.
Denise had earlier mentioned the possibility of the name for the entity as "Holly." It turned out the one of the homeowners' aunts was named "Polly" and that she was recently deceased. The homeowner's mother was also present along with another aunt. Her mother wanted her to know that she and her 2 sisters were together and happy.
In the homeowner's report following the team's investigation, it was learned that she had frequent dreams of her mother and other relatives. Denise took a picture that revealed a rather large, bright orb just next to the homeowner. Other orbs were captured in the living room and in the kitchen, but not as bright as that one.
The team investigation revealed that there is no entity that resides in this very pleasant home. It is instead family members who were very close in life, visiting and watching over those that they love.

Brandy’s report
7-15-06
6:35 p.m. to 9:17 p.m.
Post full moon (waning moon)
Investigators present: Brandy, Denise, Amy, Debbie, Evie, Mary and Kevin
Others present: 2 homeowners, 3 cats, 2 dogs, finches and fish
We split up into two groups; Denise, Amy, Mary and Evie; Brandy, Kevin, Debbie.
While waiting, I kep the meter on the 0 –3 scale; it read a base at a 1.0 which is where I set the siren. We did try to go through and unplug the wireless networks for cable as we went. We did turn off and unplug as many devices as possible, with homeowner consent. Kevin did set up infrared cameras (plugged into a computer) which we set in the living room.
Main living room/sitting room:
76-77 degrees,81 degrees (two readings)
2 spikes .8 – 2.4; TV gave off a spike; we did unplug wireless.
Office:
1.1
base EMF reading, 77 degrees.
base EMF reading, 77 degrees.One spike, but possibly explainable with wireless network in house. (There were computers in the office). All was off when we went through, however.
In the hallway, Kevin had a very eerie feeling (a “wash”) which went through him.
Bathroom: 76 degrees, 3 spikes (near the time when Kevin got his “wash”).
Bedroom one:
Put EMF on blanket on bed. We got mild spikes. We unplugged cable box, spikes continued (1.1- 1.4). I got chills on my legs. We found a metal box under the bed, which we pulled out and away from the EMF meter. Spikes continued. Smoke detector gave off long enduring spike as we walked under it, but did not produce readable EMF as we walked away.
We felt a chill go through all three of us as we were in the room.
Bathroom: 1.0, 1 spike, chill on leg.
Bedroom 2 (Craft room): .9 EMF. VCR and TV are off. EMF mild spikes.
MA bedroom: .8 – 1.0 EMF. I thought I saw a movement out of the corner of my eye in front of the doorway.
There was 1 large spike when Kevin turned off the cable box in the MA bedroom. I was about to call “spike” when my camera shut down.
Bathroom: 77 degrees; spikes but explainable (plugged in hairdryer).
Main entry room:
EMF .8, nothing abnormal.
Dust visible in this part of house in the sunlight in the entry room.
Discussion:
Debbie: House registered consistently 77 – 78 degrees; dropped to 76 in both office and first bedroom. Chills by hallway near office. Chills in area by bed in bedroom 1. Craft room, a few small spikes, also registered some in the MA bedroom.
Denise: Felt it was a control house with a strong will coming from someone living there who wanted to make contact with someone who passed. Grandmother? Only name was Sandra Dee (or Lee). Heard “Scooter” in MA bedroom, and a “Ha” sounding name – Holly or Heather. There was a female spirit trying to come through.
Amy: Kitchen: Heaviness; 1 spike, in front room.
Mary: No flux in EMF, 1 spike that was linked to the fish tank (explainable). Temperature was consistent. Pictures of orbs in living room corner; other in kitchen corner.
Evie: No temp spikes or EMF spikes.
Kevin: Hallway “wash” – felt something move through him. 1st bedroom, felt cool, and noted the three of us felt a chill as it went around the room.
Brandy: No notable orbs on camera; movement out of corner of eye by MA bedroom; EMF spikes in 1st bedroom, MA bedroom; chills in 1st bedroom.
Second walk through: Before we could go, Denise felt someone trying to come through. As soon as she noted that, the dog barked.
Batteries died in my camera, but that could be due to camera useage.
Denise asked to take pictures of her – something behind her. Kevin, who was setting up camera in 1st bedroom, felt a “wash”.
Energy was beginning to fade so we moved into the 1st bedroom.
Denise got the thought, “surrogate mom”….
Kevin thought he heard a little girl; got the name Anabell.
Tried EVP, but entity very weak. Was going to “posses” Denise, but we would not allow that. Not enough energy to pull itself through. I offered it some of mine, but WITHOUT the possession factor.
Asked it’s Name, Age, Related to Family.
Asked if it was older than 25; Spike.
Registered 77 – 75 degrees in room. Was it a family member? Spike. Did it want to speak with female homeowner? None. Male? Spike.
Amy got the name “Barbara”….
Finally, because we were not getting any clear answers, we asked the homeowners to come in. They did mention that they had an aunt Polly that died last yeare, and there was another family member, Helen, who died. Female homeowner said her mother’s name was Irene.
Homeowner interview:
Name Scooter: Daughter got a dog named Scooter. Denise wanted the family to know that the mother and the two aunts are together. Scooter was to validate that they are watching over the family. They did not have a message, as there were no unresolved issues when they died.
Homeowner report: Homeowner has dreams of deceased relatives.
Dogs have acted up – one night, she was growling as if there was someone there.
They have seen movement between Bedroom 1 and 2, and the office area.
Abnormal behavior of telephones: On the anniversary of homeowner’s mother’s death in Nov. of 2002. After writing another to her mother in memory of the day, the phone rang; “unknown number” listed and it would not erase from caller ID. No one was on the phone.
Hears 3 knocks on door then someone dies that homeowner knows (an old superstition does exist from the UK that relates to death omens).
Homeowners sometimes smell cigarette smoke at different hours. Sometimes we smell fresh coffee brewing, and male homeowner felt someone “sit” on the bed; no one was there.
Investigators’ Conclusions:
I did find only one orb on the pictures that I took. It was out in the kitchen, where others also said that they got orbs.
Denise got a beautiful orb image when she started to take about the woman homeowner’s mother coming through. It was right next to the homeowner; no other orbs captured on her camera (not even dust).
Kevin did report some possible odd phenomena on the infrared cameras as he was recording. It is unknown what caused the phenomena (a glow that appeared in two archways while we were doing EVP. Confirmed that no lights were turned on.
Overall, this was a very strange investigation. It had the hallmarks of a haunting, but little sensitive information or digital imagery. We will have to wait to see what comes of the other reports to be certain.

On July 15th, 6 Spirits members and I prospective member met at a private home near New Port Richey to investigate possible paranormal activity. As always, we have no prior knowledge of the reason for the investigation.
This was a very lovely 3 bedroom home with pool. Household consisted of 2 adults, 2 dogs, 2 cats, finches and tropical fish. No overhead power lines or power substation nearby that would cause abnormal EMF.
We split into two teams with each team going through the entire house taking pictures, temperature readings & EMF readings. We then met to discuss our findings. Both teams found 1 high EMF reading in bedroom #2 but discovered it was caused by the fish tank filter on the other side of the wall. Some people had pictures with orbs, I had only one picture with a small orb above the pictures in the living room. I also have an unusual light pattern on the closet door in another picture. I have tried to figure out how it could be made by the blinds but the pattern is much different from the holes in the blinds. I probably wouldn't have paid a lot of attention to this except we were discussing the "power of three" in that very room and the light pattern is 3 space, 3 space, etc.
After all our discussion we decided to go back to bedroom #2 and try to get a response. Our physic felt a week energy was trying to come through with a message. We picked up several spikes with the EMF meter during questions.
The homeowners mother might be the energy trying to come through. While we were back in the living room with the homeowners, one of our members felt a presence and got up to take a picture. Right by the homeowner's shoulder, a huge orb appeared on the picture.
This was a very enjoyable evening and the homeowners were delighted to think her mother is watching over them.

Sometimes it is just nice to come across a nice clean investigation. This is one of those. The homeowner called the SPIRITS of St. Petersburg. She had some unusual phenomena in her home, though she believed that she knew the source of the haunting: her mother. The SPIRITS investigation, including entity interaction with the equipment and our sensitive, concluded that, indeed, it was the mother who was trying to communicate with her daughter. The basic message: she was still there for her.
One of the most interesting aspects of this investigation, and the chosen topic for this month, is that the homeowner reported one instance of what she believed to be a “phone call from the dead.” This related to the death of her mother and took place, in fact, on the anniversary of her mother’s passing. On the day in question she had performed a function in memory of her mother. Shortly thereafter her phone rang though no one was on the other line. Caller ID showed “number unknown.”
While this is not the strongest instance of a phone call from the dead, this activity has happened for quite some time. Word of mouth is that original purpose of the telephone was not to call each other, but to reach through to the other side – literally, to reach out to those in the “Great Beyond.” (This does, of course, give a new definition to “long distance service” as well). Reports of phone calls can include phones ringing and strange, disconnected voices coming through from the other side; people calling long-lost relatives, reaching them by phone, speaking to them for a time, hanging up, then calling back later only to discover that the person has been dead for quite some time; and, of course, the odd hang up calls from “unknown numbers” at anniversary times of deaths, or numbers of deceased relatives long since disconnected appearing on telephone logs (http://www.themystica.com/mystica/articles/p/phone_calls_from_the_dead.html).
The negative aspect of this is, of course, that modern technology certainly can throw a monkey wrench into the paranormal. After all, there are automatic dialing machines for doctors, pharmaceutical companies, and politicians that have been known to act up. Telemarketers, though not as prevalent as before, do exist and calls can come through as “unknown”, particularly depending on individual telephone services. The air waves are filled with cell phone chatter as well, and portable electronic devices may also throw additional sound bites up for receivers to hear.
So, do we explain it as synchronicity? Or can the dead utilize technology in their own way (as paranormalists presume)? The answers are numerous. To allow the reader to decide, here are several web sites dedicated to the topic:
