Attendees: Verna, Brandy, Mary and Debbie
We arrived at the private location at 2:00pm. We entered the building and knocked on the home owners door. Upon entering the home I could feel an energy that was so thick, you could cut it with a knife. After entering we sat down and spoke with the homeowner for a few minutes while Debbie and Brandy set up.
Mary and I started working together immediately and started in the bedroom. When we entered the bedroom you could feel the energy. It was moving around the room. I felt quite a bit of energy right next to the bed on the floor. It was very thick. This energy I was picking up on was beginning to feel like it could be male. I was also gathering that this was an older male and that it was some how attached to the home owner. Mary and I continued into the hall way and then entered the bathroom. We felt energy in the bathroom. We took a few snap shots and it quickly exited the bathroom. We followed back through the hallway and then entered the kitchen. The kitchen was very warm and friendly. There was absolutely no energy felt in that room. We then proceeded into the dining area. We felt the energy right by the buffet.It then moved again. We then sat down for a few minutes again in the living area and then Mary and I went back into the bedroom. Mary and I felt a cool breeze in the bedroom and felt the energy move around.
The four of us gathered in the bedroom with the EMF meter and EVP equipment. We tried making contact there and we were getting some weird EMF screeching. Brandy changed the dial and we then really couldn't pick up anything. I felt at that time that the energy had balled itself up and moved into a hiding place somewhere. But I knew at that time that the energy had not left the home.Again we tried making contact. Mary and Debbie retreated to the bedroom and closed the door. brandy and I sat at the dining room table with the EMF meter hoping to register something. Honestly at this time, I knew the entity had let the home. I knew at this time that we were not going to pick up on anything else.
We sat down down as a group in the living room and discussed the findings with the homeowner and wrapped up the investigation.

Hunt time between 2-5:00 p.m..
Weather overcast and slight rain
Equipment used: digital camera, digital camcorder, computer with recording software and external mic and an IR thermometer.
Residence is a multi-family complex with this client’s unit having water on both sides from the bay.
At the beginning of the hunt there was a lot of interaction from the entity as it made itself known to all of us in the group. The atmosphere, stepping into the unit, had heaviness to it. We received immediate EMF readings, which was investigated and determined not to be of an environmental nature. Mary and Verna paired to investigate the back rooms of the unit while Brandy and I remained in the living room and dining room area. We received positive EMF responses to the usual questions. Are you male? Do you recognize the client as the homeowner and so on. We determined by active testing that the EMF spikes were not related to the environment or natural. We stopped asking questions and the EMF meter would stop spiking. The only strong consistent EMF readings came in the hallway entrance but quickly dropped back to normal within two steps of the closets in either direction.
The bedroom was also giving off strong EMF spikes. The only EVP from the computer recording was to the question, “did you commit suicide?” A male voice is heard saying “No”. The next potential EVP came as the sound of heavy breathing over the mic that was positioned on the bed. However, and video backs this up, none of our members hovered over the mic blowing air into it and that was the type of sound recorded. The air-conditioner was off, windows closed and no drafts were discovered in the entire unit. Frequent and measurable temperature changes were recorded at times. This is Florida. To be in an apartment behind closed window and with the air turned off on a 85 degree day should not produce measurable temperature drops that move around the investigators. These cold spots were determined to be paranormal in nature.
Our client does mention that the entity is move active at night and “plays tapes” to annoy her. Sounds of a woman moaning or wailing has been heard and other sounds like snoring, banging, sawing, drilling as if someone building something. It keeps her awake. There was one other apparition that Brandy describes as a crisis apparition that did appear about four years ago to our client. This apparition was of a woman sitting in the hallway but there was no chair. The apparition appeared twice in one day. Our client is darn close to being nearly 100 years old. Active and healthy but distressed by the activity that has been going on for the last 8-years though she has been in this unit for a very long time.
About halfway through investigating the bedroom we had incredibly strong EMF spiking that lasted far to long. Brandy finally had to ask the entity, “What are you doing, sitting on the meter?” She then asked the entity to step back from the meter and when that failed she adjusted the EMF to reduce the siren alarm for us. This unit is a downstairs until and the unit above could have produced these extreme spikes though our client confirmed that the upstairs unit is laid out just like her unit. After this episode the entity withdrew almost as if it curled up in a little ball and did not try and interact with us anymore. The total atmosphere at that time changed drastically for the better.
Though our client has done most of the correct things by being firm with the entity to leave her alone she has been unsuccessful. With Mary present in the bedroom and Brandy, Verna and our client in the dinning area of the unit, I did attempt to have a “few words” with this entity about stopping his behavior towards our client. As I was leaning against the dresser I felt the dresser move one time as if it had been shoved. It was very noticeable and I cannot rule out that this was a reaction from the entity.
The investigation was concluded. After reviewing my evidence from both audio recordings and IR video, I found one very suspicious light anomaly that may be attributed to our entity. However, at this time I will not call it one way or the other until other members of the team have a chance to view it.

Mary's Report
PRESENT: Brandy, Debbie, Verna, Mary and the homeowner
Weather conditions: rainy
The hunt began about 2 PM. Verna and I split into one team and Brandy and Debbie in another. The location was a small apartment and so we were just one room away from the other team. Debbie and Brandy had the technical equipment, ie EMF meter, digital thermometer, lap top with EVP recording software and a video camera. Verna and I concentrated on the psi sensitive part of the investigation and also took pictures with digital cameras.
The apartment was nicely decorated, but had many mirrors that had to be taken into consideration with camera and other video equipment. When we first arrived, I was sitting on the sofa and felt behind me (in the dining area which is open with the living room) a man who was watching us rather menacingly. Later more information surfaced for me on this man. He seemed to me to be have the air of a retired military man (I thought Navy) who was probably a higher ranking enlisted man used to giving orders. He had a tattoo on his lower arm that seemed to have a lightning bolt in it. His hair was short, like a crew cut and greying. The name Paul came to mind and also the word "prepare." I had the impression that he was connected with the property rather than the homeowner.
Both Verna and I sensed a heaviness in the "white room" of the home. It was apparent as soon as we entered it. Cold spots seemed to move through the room. Verna felt a presence on the right side of the room. All of us felt the entity to be a male. At times he seemed to withdraw, almost into a ball. When we rejoined as a group and identified this room as a hot spot, Brandy brought in the EMF meter which went into a steady tone...no fluctuation..as if the entity was right on top of it. Brandy felt a cold spot on her back as if she had been touched. During this time the homeowner was with us.
According to the homeowner's report, the activity started about 8 years ago. From what she told the group, she may have inadvertently invited the presence into her home. She identifies a male whom she has seen as rather "nattily" dressed in clothes from the 40s to include a fedora. She stated that he was rather handsome. Her description did not match the impression I had as stated earlier and so it appears that this is possibly not the same entity. Although the entity has never harmed her, he does aggrevate her to the point that she cannot sleep. She has heard noises as if carpentry work is being done late at night.
Some observations: the apartment is close to a large body of water (a conductor of sound) and there is clearly audible , though distant, traffic sounds from I-275 if one is outside or in the bedroom. It is possible that work on the road that could be done late at night may have caused some of the noises. The homeowner has lived in this apartment for 30 years as has her upstairs neightbor. The neighbor does not report any unusual activity in her apartment. She has asked the entity numerous times to leave her home and to leave her alone, but has not been successful. She had also asked a priest to come bless the home. We offered some suggestion to her such as ignoring him and even going into a different room to sleep. She will keep us posted on any more activity.
The only orbs that I found in my pictures were in the "white room".

75 – 76 degrees.
Temperature dropped 1 degree as I took the readings.
EMF dropped 1.4 EMF.

Thickness of atmosphere….by the bath tub, sense of coughing. Nothing in the hallway or kitchen. In the dining room and buffet area, male sense of presence. Bedroom: swirling sensation.
Mary: before we started, felt that a man was looking out behind the sofa; same grumpy disposition, 5 foot 10 inches, the term prepare, name Paul. Bedroom, different energy: s wirling cold spot; back in 2nd time ; started juust before we went in. Coolness in livingroom; entity in spots.
Brandy: Asked, is there a reason why he’s here?
Verna: I own it, this is mine.”
Debbie: Cold spot over hand -- felt closeness of entity, felt as if entity was close, felt something in dining room, asked Mary to take a picture. Energy strong and aggressive, protective feeling.
Went back to check the bedroom. Energy was gone, removed from the area. He was hiding. Not much response.
Homeowner interview: Hears noises of someone building or doing something, dog barking, woman crying, heavy drilling.
Has seen the entity: 1940’s style wearing a hat and suit.
Smells aromas of food: meat and veggies.
First saw him on the roof of the condo about 8 years ago. Thought he was a real person, he was throwing stones at her. Told him to come on down; he shook his head. However, after that he may have come into her area.
Feels like he “hides” in a cubby space somewhere in the building. He is constantly watching her, and he can be sexual in his intentions. Feels inhibited in her own home. He sometimes “sleeps” next to her on the floor; she can hear his snoring. Has tried to ask him to leave her alone but he refuses to leave.
We spoke to homeowner; some of the noises may be related to building and construction in the area, or other buildings. However, we do agree that there is something there. He may not be as negative as she thinks. We asked the entity to leave her alone again. A week later I phoned and she reports that activity is much better than it once was; it’s much calmer.
For the past several months, the SPIRITS of St. Petersburg and our "sister" team, Pasco Pinellas Paranormal, have gotten a growing number of reports of entities that are rude, hostile, stubborn, or who present a sense of entitlement to residing in a location, despite the objections of the living. The Sept. 22 case, named for the date of the investigation, is just such an example. Here, a male entity moved through the dwelling. He annoyed the homeowner, ignored her requests to leave, and ultimately hid from SPIRITS investigators who came to investigate. These reports bring about two primary questions: Why is this happening, and how can homeowners deal with these entities?
To answer the first question, perhaps we can propose that popular media and the rise in interest toward the paranormal is one reason for the increase of these cases. The rampant abuse produced by unchecked television shows provides inappropriate examples of behaviors toward the supernatural. This certainly does not help the matter. Televised teams are shown in situations of provoking, taunting, and teasing the dead, which is not only abhorrent, it is unnecessary. Yet, it is done in the name of ratings.
From the television shows, there is a rise of popular interest in the paranormal. Untrained individuals, some of whom mimic what they view, are creating unstable environments through which the supernatural may manifest. If these visits are not supernatural, they are, at the least, unhealthy psychological responses to the dead and the afterlife. Sadly, the televised media does not show much, if any, compassion to the deceased. Morals and ethics, which are desperately needed in this field, are cast aside for sensationalism. This does allow for the pondering of these questions: how much television does it take to affect the psyche of the living? If we cannot show respect to the dead, then how can we show respect to the living? When is pushing TV for ratings also pushing sensationalism too far?
As the escalation of para-TV continues, readers are urged to assess how these images affect them, the restless dead, and the world at large. The media is not harmless, but we are not powerless. Remember that viewers are consumers of products. TV shows are products. As described above, we are empowered to change our realities. As long as positive response remains from the general viewing audience, these shows will continue to be aired. As consumers, we have control -- remind the producers of that power. Cut the cord to unhealthy shows that are promoting this negative mindset.
For the unfortunant home owner caught in the middle, there are a few empowering steps that can give aid in these situations.
1) Speak out loud to the entity. If this is a hostile case, try not to show strong emotion. Treat them politely, but firmly, almost as if dealing with a disruptive customer. This allows the home owner to remain in charge. Some believe that entities may feed off of the negativity to make themselves stronger. Even if this is not true, over-reaction empowers the entity, removing power from the living. This will only create more tension within the household. Ideally, the homeowner will act in a sense of calm compassion and love toward the entity.
2) Remind the entity that it needs to leave the property. The property now belongs to the living, and the ghost needs to cross over into the light. Firmly request that the entity leave the property, or cross over to the other side.
3) Many groups espouse the use of cleansing materials, such as burning sage. Home owners may do research on sage cleanings, but be aware that this herb is quite strong smelling when ignited. Other forms of cleansings include the use of salt, white light meditations, placement of sacred, holy, or blessed items in the house, or even the placement of copper within the corners of a room.
4) Call for a ghost investigation. Be honest in the assessment of the house to the paranormalists. Home owners will not do any favors lying about their spectral activity to get a team to come in. However, ALWAYS check a team's credentials. As noted above, the advent of television has spawned a cascade of ill prepared paranormal investigation teams. Teams should have references, a strong website, a history of investigations that is documented, and connections within the parafield to other qualified teams. If one team cannot deal with the hostile case, often referrals are made to teams who do specialize in these investigations.
5) Bring in clergy to help. This is also up to home owner discretion and comfort level.
