Verna: Before we started the investigation and while we were at the entrance, my hands were hurting really and I felt a lot of energy at the front door. I started to get things as soon as we came in. In the back room, I had the sensation of being choked. At the waitress station I felt my hair was touched. In the back room (banquet room), I got the worst feeling -- bad business had gone down. People were very angry and there was a bad business dealing. As I came around the hallway, I feel that people had been bothered in the hallway -- being touched or frightened by it. At the front right window, I picked up a lot of thick energy. As I came around the front of the front room, I felt a tightness around my throat. Around the third set of tables (by Café Vinee sign) there was a lot of energy. I felt as if the balance of the building was off. When we went into the kitchen I felt suffocated in there -- not because it was closed off but because there was something imbalanced in there. We went into the women’s restroom -- I felt nothing there or in the back hallway. Again in the back dining room there was a lot of energy there. I felt like there was something “brought back” -- someone saying “I brought this here”. Outside and upstairs I felt that there was something looming there; not interacting. We were in the back alley way and it is not very pleasant. I went back there because I though that this would be a party atmosphere…I felt something brush up against my backside. Right when I felt it Denise said that there was something following me. By the elevator downstairs, I felt that someone had been accosted there. There may have been an altercation of sort. EMF went down.
Erin: In this room I didn’t get anything. In the kitchen, the best way that I can describe it, it feels oppressive. It is a very heavy feeling in there. In the ladies room and the hallway, I didn’t get anything. In the back room, which includes the banquet room, a less intense oppressive feeling. I got a pressure in my chest, like it was hard to breathe. In the patio, it was a really odd feeling out there. I kept looking at Beth because I expected to see something. Upstairs and the stairwell, it was a really uncomfortable feeling. Frank’s box, I didn’t get anything.
Beth: When we first came in, before the investigation started, where the café sign was, I felt a push on my chest -- nothing aggressive, but a ‘wait’ kind of push. I felt another energy by the bar, but I couldn’t really pinpoint what that was. When I went into the kitchen I saw a young man, light hair, wearing a white shirt, really clean cut, standing in the corner, and it looked like we disturbed him. I wanted to get out of there. I felt a little dizzy entering the dining room and I asked for a name was “Stuart”. Out on the patio, I felt like I was being watched -- a lot of feelings here of being watched. Felt that when I went to the restroom before the investigation.
Les: Temperature gauge: 80 - 82; by the restrooms temp stopped working. Went all over the place when we came back out here.
Jeanne: EMF all over the place -- high when I first came in and it then went down. A couple of orb shots, usually where someone told me to take a picture.
Mary: We didn’t make it to the kitchen, but the banquet room was very different. The hallway going back to the bathroom, right in the section there I felt tension. I wouldn’t be surprised if people thought that was a problem area. The EMF on the KII did stay fairly high, the readings stayed up when we came back in from the ally way; the drop could be a result of the fans being turned off.
David: When we first got in here I was immediately drawn to the NW top corner of the dining room. High EMF throughout the whole place, really high towards the TV, center of the floor. In the back room (banquet room) I felt tingling on my arm and back and later when I came back again I felt it, narrowed it down to the right side of the door frame. The mirror caught my attention that it was previously owned, it was not originally brought here. (Verna: That’s where I got “brought here”). Here, between the window and the brick stairwell outside, I thought I saw someone looking in. It was watching and waiting. I tried to get more details -- female, 17 - 30, hair short or pulled back; felt sad, waiting and watching. Didn’t seem to interact with me, just a solid presence standing there. As we moved to the outside patio, the EMF was a little bit lower, and as I got closer to the street, it felt clearer and better, easier. The stair case in the back there was something about it. I went up there and I picked up something there -- some kind of energy. EMF got really high up there on the floor. I think that is just wiring. Upstairs there was a little hallway, as I reached and tested the knob, I felt that there was something back there. I didn’t pick up much in the kitchen. The men’s bathroom, pretty neutral, and then as we were just watching the orb on the video, I felt that we were being watched from the banquet room in the corner.
Denise: When we were waiting for them, there were three spirits standing there -- one male, two females. Two females in their 20s, male was in his 30s. He had a hat on. He dissipated as soon as they came to let us in. The main focus room is the secondary dining room. He is following us, the name that I got is Gregory. When I called you over, he whispered in my ear, “talk to me”. The women, I have not felt them again, the male is the dominating presence. I got a big orb over the group when they said that they had something. Right after we were talking about him is when I got the picture. A few minutes ago he was back on my back again while everyone was talking.

Business Interview
First week, came in and saw a man leaning over on a table. He was tall, with light colored hair. She wondered who was here, and he was gone. He was not old, and I thought that he was my age.
Biz owner reports: Knocking heard inside when the only other employee was on camera visible to the manager. This happened for a week.
The camera: two employees came in and in the corner of the camera there is a large ball on the camera. Anthony went in to see what it was, and the ball dissipated on the camera. It did look like it looked on the camera that we saw tonight.
Anthony has seen someone grab his hand in the kitchen, a woman with black messed up hair.
While in the office, the menus that were up on the shelf which has to be reached up to to get to them. The menus fell off the shelf and hit me on the head.
Bar stools have been scraping across the floor. Bar stirs fell on the floor.
Last night, I was out in the ally, the knife that I put down disappeared. Stuff like that happens a lot.
In the back office, the lights have gone on and off a few times. I could have sworn that the lights were off and they’d be back on. The door is closed on the ally, the door seems to open and it slams. One hour before the SPIRITS got here the door started to slam and move on its own.
When I was outside in the ally, the door closes and it locks on its own. I pulled the door closed and it locks. The door would keep opening each time I pulled it closed. (Beth: I tried to close it three times tonight and it wouldn’t close. Biz: When you close the door it locks).
Our things crash a lot, fax won’t work, phones won’t work; the phone will die, it won’t hang up.
I have heard my name a few times -- I could have sworn that I heard “Michelle”. Jess, another employee, heard something behind her.
Chappy’s used to be a jazz club where people used to hang out a long time ago.
This was once a lounge to a hotel; Al Capone used to hang out.
The office used to be where you were (Verna noted that it was an office during investigations) .

One of the oldest buildings in St. Pete; was St. Charles Hotel built in 1905. Breezeway went from Central to 1st -- used to be part of Mass Brothers. The banquet hall was originally the entranceway.


Hammerhead’s: In the kitchen area it is 4 - 5 steps up. The dishwasher was at the opposite end, Drew was at the main bar and I was on the stairs. No one was around me; I wasn’t walking fast and I was pushed with force down the stairs.
Drew heard about the knives fly across the room. Employees had to use the restroom upstairs; got a creepy “I’m being watched” scary feeling -- not a good energy or feeling. Kitchen we would see a little girl. Sometimes you would feel something coming through.

Was sitting with the video camera and TV that Denise had. Saw the "bubble" rod image on the tape. EMF went from 1.48 to 1.25 to 1.33 (a lot of bouncing) on the Puck. EVPs were compromised with the extreme noise from the concert. When I went to listen to the EVPs (just in case) I cannot find my recorder. I have looked in the bag and all pockets.

Exhausted that night. Tripped coming down the stairs and landed on my knees. This is unusual for me.

It was formerly an old hotel built around 1905. Used by gangsters in the day; Chappy's was once a jazz lounge for the hotel. Reports of a woman manifesting (David sensed her) Report of a "bubble" caught on Chappy's video (from staff) -- though much larger than ours. Staff have seen a male entity in the location.

Denise: Prior to entering the business I felt we were greated by two female and one male energy that followed us around all evening. The male wanted to communicate, but had difficulity. Due to the immediate images seen on the video tape it is possible that it did show the three entities.

Had equipment trouble all night. The 1st thing was the EMF meter battery was dead before we even got started after it was checked at home earlier. So I used the temperature meter and started out with similar readings thoughout the building-79 to 82 degrees untill we went into the back stoage area just down the hall from the banquet room when the temp started to drop and continued to drop untill the meter shut off and never recovered with the battery also being dead.

Beth- On video both live and replay, I witnessed an unexplained orb of light hovering over a table in the dining room.

Beth-Upon entering the establishment I felt a hand push gently but firmly against the top of my chest. I felt that the gesture was one telling me to stop and go no further. Near the television in the bar I felt a presence that I believe stands and watches. In the kitchen I saw a vision of a young man (early twenties) with light hair. I believe that we had disturbed him and that he did not like us to be there. I have the impression that he had worked at the restaurant at one time as a dishwasher. I believe that this is around 1981. When I asked for a name I received the name "Stewart". At the threshold of the dining room I felt a little dizzy. This passed as I entered into the room. There was a feeling of being watched in the back hallway and in the women's rest room. I was drawn to a courtyard with stairs. This area was not open for further investigation.

I would like the opportunity to investigate some areas that my team was unable to get to during the original walk through. The manager's office and the courtyard area.

Beth- I did not mention at the time of the investigation but would like it to be recorded that I believe that the young man I saw in the kitchen was suffering from a blood related disease. Possibly HIV, AIDS.

Mary: The KII meter which is not known for frequent reactions did have a couple of unusual occurrences. At the glass table in the middle of the dining area, there was a steady mid-sized spike. Initially this was attributed to rather high EMF readings and the ceiling fans overhead which were on. Later in the investigation the KII meter showed nothing. This was true with and without the ceiling fans on

Mary: This was difficult due to the large amount of noise from the concert as it made it difficult for me to concentrate. However, I did feel energy just as I entered the banquet room. This energy seemed to be most concentrated toward the door. The other spot of energy was in the hallway just before going back to the restrooms. At the place where the hall makes a "L" shape I picked up energy and felt that people often would feel apprehensive in that area. In the Hurricane Room I had the distinct impression to concentrate on the 1920s, but as previously mentioned. the noise from the concert was very loud and made this almost impossible to do.

Mary: This is a richly historical building. In the 1920s there was a restaurant and cabaret there. The name of the establishment was the Modern Oasis. Luther Hennington was an early owner and in 1923 he acquired one of Central Avenue's 11 illuminated signs for the club. Displayed on the roof was a camel with a winking green eye to denote the "oasis." Run by automatic time switches, the sign cam on at dusk and went off at 11 pm. The club doubled in size in the summer of 1929 to include 241, 243, 245 and 247 Central Avenue. It was a very popular restaurant and also offered dancing. Lavish New Year's Eve parties were held here, especially advertised for welcoming the New Years of 1930 and of 1931. When the club was remodeled in 1929, a number of small private dining rooms were constructed for private dinner parties. As this was in the height of prohibition, it is possible that this was to conceal illegal drinking. St Pete had a number of speakeasies,etc during this period as did many cities throughout the country. The Modern Oasis also advertised itself as "Florida's Original Seafood House" in an ad that ran in the Evening Independent on 12/24/1932. The same ad offered a Christmas dinner (turkey) for $1.00. There was a 200 person capacity. Following Luther Hennington, two men ran a partnership in the Modern Oasis for several years, Bert Mattler and Judge L. G. Ramsey. The partnership seems to have dissolved sometime in 1931. In 1932 there was a lawsuit filed by Bert Mattler against judge Ramsey for $5000 in damages. Judge Ramsey won the suit with a "no cause" bill being returned by the jury. Other early businesses in this block of properties were the Roal Palm Theater, the Majestic Hotel and the St Charles Hotel. Constructed in 1905 with a seating capacity of 350, the Royal Palm Theater, located at 247 Central, was the first theater in St Pete. It had a stage, a screen and also a curio shop. The curio shop was run by Al Thayer who kept a live 5 foot alligator tied outside in front of the store. In a pen in the rear of the store was an 11 foot gator known as Big Bill that was owned by the Thayers for over 14 years. In appromiately 1920 the Royal Theater closed, although the curio shop may have lingered for several more years. Located at 241 Central was the Majestic Hotel and Restaurant already in operation in 1909 and owned by William Jette. The hotel offered board by the day or week. David: High EMF throughout the entire building, and exceptionally high (consistently) in certain spots. This must be due to old or unshielded wiring, although some high EMF points were in the middle of the air away from the wall, ceiling, or floor.

David: Sensed what I believe to be more than one entity. One entity felt like an older man, who wasn't very chatty and wanted us to "get out." He had a feeling of ownership or belonging there. Also sensed a female, outside the window looking in, as if she was waiting/watching for someone/something. Her energy was somehow different from how a spirit normally "feels," and she seemed unaware or uninterested in us being there. Although I observed her, I felt unable to make contact with her. Finally, there was a third entity, male, younger than the previous male and much more chatty and friendly. I kept feeling a message of "take care of the girl" from him, although we were unable to identity what girl he was talking about or confirm the message. I wasn't even sure if the "girl" was alive or deceased, or if they were related or he just felt a close relationship to her.

David: Out of the three specific entities I sensed, only one (the older man) seemed unhappy others were there. That spirit may need to learn to coexist peacefully/contently or be asked to leave. I suspect the noises and other unpleasant haunting phenomena experienced by the staff/employees are likely caused by him. The other entities felt much more peaceful and friendly, and just make their presence more well known.

June 1:  Phone call to Chappy's:

Called Chappy's to let them know that the reports were up.  The person I spoke with told me that they had actually found some old money (a $5 bill) behind a sugar dish (or something like that).  This bill was so old that they thought it was fake money at first....So, there really WAS something to the Paranormal Puck session.
