The ancients believed that spirits could talk to the living during sleep.  Perhaps it is because sleep was considered a version of death and was deified as Death's younger brother.  Thereby, it was natural to attribute dreams containing warnings and future prophesies to the dead. 

Today, dreams are no less enigmatic. Why do we dream?  What is the purpose of dreaming?  And what does it mean when various members of a paranormal investigation team dream of an investigation before they arrive at the intended site?

This happened to two members of the SPIRITS team just before the investigation at Oak Moss Drive.  One person, who was not attending, dreamt of an old-styled Florida house with dogs and men sitting on the front porch.  She had a sense of urgency to investigate the home, and felt certain that images would be captured through cameras.  Another said that when napping she dreamt the team was ordered out of the home and to end the investigation.

Yet, in hindsight, neither turned out to be the case.

The occupants of the home reported that the strongest phenomena was in the constant tilt of images within the household.  Each time the pictures were straightened, the moment anyone turned away they slid askew again.

One person experienced knocks against his bedroom window.  They came in a series of three, showing that they were not of a random nature, yet no known agent was found to create them.  This same individual also saw a glowing ball of light floating outside his window, only to see it vanish a short time later.

The investigation, itself, showed few surprises.  A few anomalous images were captured, including a line-like image that runs across a digital picture.  Orbs were found in certain part of the home, including the porch area where the floating orb was reported.

Several people captured an odd flame-like image in the master bedroom.  The SPIRITS team conducted a series of experiments and determined that the images were of a natural origin:  a small picture glass reflected the flashes of the cameras at an odd angle.  It was not a paranormal anomaly.

The team also attempted to ascertain the nature of the tilting picture.  A small level was obtained and placed upon one of the most notorious of the tilting pictures.  It was straightened and the room closed to outsiders.  The picture was checked every few minutes.  It did not tilt.  A second frame was selected and tested; the results were also negative.

Yet, one of the psy-sensitives picked up on several aspects of the family.  A man named Joseph began to follow the group through the house.  He was in his 60's, but little else was know about him. During the secondary walk through, the sensitive again felt his presence and "saw" a bow-legged man sitting on a couch in the study.  She took a picture of him; the resulting image shows an orb neatly nestled on the cushions.

An image of an American solider in Viet Nam also appeared to the sensitive; this was later confirmed that one of the persons living in the home had been in Nam and, as the image showed, had stood guard over a camp with women and children.

The names of "Dorthia" or "Dottie" came through; this was confirmed to be a relative of the homeowner.  A man named "Shorty" also made a brief appearance; he was also an individual from the homeowner's past.

Yet, for all of this, the anomalies recorded by the SPIRITS were few.  Perhaps the entities chose to appear only to the homeowners; perhaps a secondary trip is necessary to try and determine what is going on within the home.  Regardless, the living and the dead appear to co-exist peacefully within the same space, each sharing a curiosity about the other.

Homeowner's Information:

Phenomena and notes:  Moved into house built in the early 1980s.  It belongs to his mother and father, and the original owners are still alive. 

Home has many antiques from his family heritage.  He has lived there 8 years, and the phenomena have been present since day 1.

The house is located 2 miles North of Alaphy River; it was close to a military outpost from the years 1849-1850.

His wallet and keys keep going missing.  For two days he searched for his wallet, then found it on the dresser.

The door on the porch slams closed.  He hears knocking on windows -- raps in numbers of 3.  He heard it 2 times (two sets of three) the Monday before he called me to set up investigation.

One light turns itself on in kitchen.  The garage door goes up and down on occasion.  TV turns itself on and off.

The Cat, Smokey, was once lying on the stool, looked up and fled from the room as if in fear.

His 19 month old nephew talks to someone in the room.

Pictures that are hung on the wall always fall slanted -- they become crooked.  No matter how soon they are straightened, they are made to lean.

He has acknowledge entity.

Thinks it may be a family member; maybe a grandfather who died in 1999. 

Said his sister got married in December.  The cake had a topper, and the topper seemed to leap off the cake and fall a short distance away.    1 of the wedding cameras had orbs on the pictures.  Middle of roll; no other images showed up with orbs.

Saw a ball of light go by porch several nights before he contacted me for investigation.

Before the investigation, two members reported vivid dreams about the investigation, both reflecting danger:

Fran:  I also had a weird dream last night having to do with this. I saw 3 men sitting on a porch and I think 3 of those hound dogs that look like dobermans, but have long tails and long floppy ears. I don't know what any of it means, or if it means I am supposed to be there. Is the guy single as well, because in the dream he was. The house looked like an older wooden house, 1 story, paint chipping, kinda country area. Anyway, since I don't get these dreams like this, I had to share. I was also told in the dream to use my camera. Would it be to late to catch a ride with you or someone else?

Denise:  I laid down for an hour nap and had a VERY BAD dream.  We were on a ghost hunt at a house and it was evil.  We were ordered out of the house and more than happy to comply.  The house had a red glow about it, apparitions, items floating around.  I truly hope this was not a prequil of things to come tonight, but is, instead, my imagination from ghost shows I watched recently.

NOTE:  The dreams did not appear to be related to this investigation.  I had screened the investigation and did not find any signs of demonology, etc.

6 p.m., Thudnerstorm started during investigation.

Lunar Cycle:  waning, post full moon.

Investigators Present:  Brandy, Denise, Charles (1st investigation), Jeanne, Cindy, Sean (1st official investigation).

Trifield Meter, 0-3 scale.

Pre-investigation:

Bedroom 1: 

EMF:  .2-.5

EMF detected near the TV.

Temperature:  79, 81-82

Possible orbs; Denise sensed a dog presence.

Made note of a thermometer in the air vent.

Bedroom 2:  EMF steady by computer, .2 for the rest of the room.

79-82 degrees.

Sean noticed possible snow near a Masonic Plate.he had problems focusing on it with the camera.  I noticed possible dust particles I the light of the flash.

Bathroom:  small spikes of EMF to approx. 1.5 (3 times), then to 2.0 (1 time), minute spikes afterwards.

78-81 degrees.

Small chills on lower legs.

Sitting room:

EMF:  two spikes of 1.5, off scale for the TV.

77-80 degrees.

Chills on legs.

Kitchen:  Reflections and EMF

80-82 degrees

EMF registered over the table, it rose and dropped.

80-82 degrees.

Dining room:

.3-1.0 EMF spikes.

77-80 degrees temp.

Bedroom 3: 

Bright orb appeared over bed.  We went through this room numerous times, found a natural reason for the orb between a telephone with metallic rings on it, and multiple framed images (glass). 

Felt a cold spot.  EMF registering in far right corner of the room.

80-84 degrees.

Formal living room (aka "Forbidden room")

Discussion:

Denise:  ELF meter had 0 EMF.

She sensed a male energy present, which followed the team into the two bedrooms.  It was an older male, possibly a father.  Heard "Joseph" or "Josephine" as associated with the energy.  Sensed it sit down on the couch and did get an orb with it.

She sensed that it had black and gray hair, was bulky in the middle with skinny legs.

She sensed the name Charles in the first bedroom, and a small fluffy white dog named Dusty in the bedroom.

In the living room she heard "Alan; Darla"

In the bedroom she sensed an infant that might have died at birth; that it had taken the role of guardian for the homeowner's grandson.  She ages normally, and appears to be 3  5 years old.  She was seated on the bed when Cindy's compass began to spin.

Charles:  Charles noted his name and that he, himself, had a Pekinese named Millie.  (Denise said that was not what she was picking up).  He found a temp flux in bedroom 3, near the dressing area.  It moved from 76, 77, 78 to 78.5 degrees.  He was not moving his hand.

Cindy:  Bedroom 1:  Her compass started spinning.  In the dining room it also spun, and in bedroom 3.  She did not know why it did that, though the compass was an antique.

Jeanne:  no EMF, except the area of the computer on the wall of the 2nd bedroom.

Sean:  noted snow over the Masonic plate in bedroom 2.  He also had two images on the digital camera (Canon) that were odd:  One had a blue line in it, the other a green line.

Brandy:  see notes; chills, EMF.

Group wanted to check the bedroom areas again.

Investigation:

Bedroom 2:  Denise sensed that this was a military man, with a green uniform with rolled up sleeves, from either Viet Nam or WWI.  She sensed a great-grandfather figure, or hunting.  She sensed starving children around him, but that he was not an apparition in the room; the information was filtered in some respect.

Homeowners said that the pictures in the house were constantly tipping.  We decided to do an experiment with a picture.  We got a level and placed it on top of a picture, noting that the level was exactly centered.  It stayed threr from 7:17 to 7:31; I kept an eye on it from the bedroom (I had a clear view of it).  No one bothered it, but it did not tilt as expected. 

We then attempted a second experiment with another area in Bedroom 3. 

Bedroom 3:

Picture experiment 2:  We again placed a level on a picture.  Jeanne noted that it was the imnage we had removed and that after we hung it up, she had straightened it.  It was crooked when we went back into the bedroom. 

7:34 started experiment, level.  Checked 7:43, 8:16, 8:36.  No change at all.

Meanwhile, Denise sensed the spirit of the little girl.  She was sad, possibly being the child of a previous owner.   Denise wondered if it was a place memory.

Homeowner interview:  Homeowners told us of shifting phases of pictures.  Denise thought it was an energy shift of some sort; that the images were not being tilted by an unseen hand as much as they were reacting to what she thought was a possible lei line in the area.

She was able to verify Josephine as a childhood babysitter for one of the homeowners, and several of the other entities may be remote relatives.  Dorothea is the homeowner's grandmother, Charles may be the grandfather of the wife of the homneowner. 

Denise heard of Oliver, possibly the military man. 

She thought the child ghost may call the baby the bumpkin baby....that she was responsible for the knocking and other anomolies to get attention.

Other anomalies include knocks, slams, and other noises coming from the porch area (see homeowner's information).

We then walked outside of the house looking for images, EMF.  We checked the corner of the bedroom where we got anomalous images.  Outside there were two sets of wires, one belonging to the cable box, the other possibly related to the telephone.  They did not give off any EMF. 

We went to the porch and took images, and several went into the garage.

Images developed for us in the bedrooms and porch, with nice dark images showing up over Denise in at least one of my digital camera images.  

Oddly, some images taken with Denise's camera and some taken with mine reflect very similar images.  This is a first for this group, as several of the images appear to be like orbs.

Conclusions:  It appears that the house may be marginally haunted.  Many of the entities seem to be relatives of the family who come back to keep tabs on the living members of the clan. 

The little girl entity is interesting.  I don not know how we can verify her potential link to the living. though the homeowners will attempt to track down former homeowners and get information about them. 

I am curious how Denise and I had similar images in a questionable area.  This was the corner of the third bedroom where we had to take down images, cover up reflective surfaces to ensure that all natural phenomena were ended.  So, either we both picked up natural images or we both captured paranormal images.

Weather:  Overcast, with showers in the area.

Living Room:  78-80 Deg. Fahrenheit, with no spikes.   No major EMF found.

Rear Bedroom, (Bedroom #1):  81-82 Deg. Fahrenheit, with no spikes.  No major EMF found.

Bathroom:  78-81 Deg. Fahrenheit, with no spikes.  No major EMF found.

Bedroom #2: 79-82 Deg. Fahrenheit, with no spikes.  EMF Fluxes occurred, several spikes, unknown sources.

Family Room/Living Room #2:  77-80 Deg. Fahrenheit, with no spikes.   EMF Fluxes occurred, couple of spikes, unknown sources.

Kitchen:  79-81 Deg. Fahrenheit, with one spike, 87 Deg.  EMF Fluxes occurred, a couple minor readings, possible kitchen appliances.

Dining Room:  77-80 Deg. Fahrenheit, with no spikes. EMF Fluxes occurred, unknown sources and wiring inside wall found to trigger a few readings.

Bedroom #3:  76-80 Deg. Fahrenheit, with no spikes.  No major EMF found.  (SEE NOTE BELOW ON THIS ROOM)

Summations:

    Being that this is my first true field investigation with the group, (two previous, unofficial private investigations have been completed), I was most intrigued with the homeowners accounts after the initial investigations had been concluded.  Our group had collected several photos, both digital, and still-film traditional camera type photos, two different EMF meter detection devices, voice recording equipment, and personal observations using magnetic compasses, and a level supplied by the homeowners at their request, due to pictures and items being tilted after straightened being reported.  Not to mention personal observations, and a sensitive investigator on hand for the added ability of possible contact with the supernatural, should they occur.  Our team re examined our findings after learning of the homeowner's accounts, and concluded our investigation.

Peaks of Interest:

 

    After our team assembled and the power to most of the house had been shut off, including Air Conditioning, Televisions, Radios, Personal Computers, ect.,  we began to start out with cameras and EMF detection equipment, mapping from room to room any and all anomalies and strange reading that could be detected.  The homeowners stated that they had not dusted or had any structural work completed on the house in the last couple of days,  and that there were no children present for several days either.  The house was very well kept, clean and very pleasant to the eye.  The second bedroom did produce some opportunity for both Sensitive Investigator Denise, and myself, to have some activity occur.  Denise had strong feelings of a 'military man' presence and that of a white small dog from the room.  I found that my digital camera was picking up a faint snowy type visual disturbance when trained on a plate hung on the wall.  Although no disturbance was recorded in the actual photographs, other investigators saw the image on the viewfinder/display of the camera.

    The kitchen had a few EMF and Temperature spikes, but most were found after investigating to be from electronic devices or kitchen appliances.  The homeowner was kind enough to provide us with refreshments that were probably cooked/warmed before we arrived, this could be the cause of the temperature variations, combined with the fridge and such in the room.

    The third bedroom was an interesting room indeed!  Our team was very interested in one corner of the room, due to photographic anomalies.  After checking for EMF, Temperature, Voice, and personal observations, our sensitive investigator also sensed some interesting feelings from the room.  We later found that the one corner of the room had some wall hangings that were causing reflections in the photography from the room, but that still does not discount the 'feelings' from our sensitive investigator.

    I found that standing in the doorway of the third bedroom and facing towards the living room area, my camera was picking up a 'glowing filament' type anomaly.  I captured this anomaly in two different pictures, from slightly different parts of the room at different times.  (See photos attached to this report.)  One was of a green type string hovering in the air, with the other one a blue, string type hovering in the air near the same place.  These were not visible to the naked eye, but showed up on the camera's viewer before and during photography of the anomaly.  Some of the team has suggested that these pictures are shutter delay while others were walking thru the room, but I disagree.  All of the team was still in the third bedroom chasing down the reflections while the first picture was taken, The second picture was taken about 10 minutes later, while most of the team was outside checking for electrical lines that might correspond to any of our readings.  I am not sure if this is a supernatural event, or just something can be explained with future investigations, but it is interesting to say the least.

    Many in our team were able to 'catch' small to medium 'orbs' and other photographic anomalies, and after discussing items of interest with the homeowners, most of the information with our team sensitive investigator was confirmed.  Family members, special events, and even the pet dog, was confirmed, some by name before the homeowners gave us the information.  The homeowners and some of their family that have stayed overnight have reported that pictures and wall hangings will move to a slanted degree after being straightened, but we were unable to confirm any of this while we were on location.  Rapping of the window panes at nighttime hours were also reported by the homeowners, but none occurred during the investigation.

Although I found little to no EMF in this home there was some interesting spiritual communication that was backed up by many photographs.  While we were setting up our equipment I met with a man in his 60's by the name of Joseph.  I did not get much else from him that this point, but several photographs showed possible orbs in the dining room that may have been from his presence. 

In the rear bedroom I sensed a small white dog with a bunch of fur, running around our feet.  The dog's name was possibly Dusty or Duchess.  I also heard the name Charles, which was confirmed to be the homeowners as a relative of theirs.  As I walked into the second rear bedroom I sensed a man in his 60's, possibly Joseph, sitting on the couch.  He had black receding hair, a large gut and thin, bowed legs.  He was sitting with his hands on his lap.  I took a photograph from my digital camera and found a large possible orb exactly where I had sensed the man sitting, therefore confirming his presence in my mind.

I did not get any EMF or sensations in the family room or dining room other than Joseph following us around.  Several photographs did show possible orbs that may have been Joseph.  The kitchen was silent other than Brandy's meter spiking when she placed it on the kitchen table.  There did not seem to be any explanation for the spikes. 

We then wandered into the master bedroom.  I picked up the energy of a small female child that was approximately 4-5 years old.  She had died at birth and had grown up in spirit.  She liked the baby that would come to the home owner's house.  She was his guardian.  The little girl had named him "Bumpkin baby."

On the second walk through of the residence, I attempted to make contact with the older male energy.  I sensed him, but seemed to get more of a projection of what had happened in either his life or the homeowners.  I sensed the man's name was Oliver.  I got the image of a man in his 20's wearing a military uniform, sleeves neatly folded around his biceps.  He was standing in a camp, possibly Vietnam, and there were children 2-4 years old sitting in the dirt around him with the mother standing in the background.  There were huts around him.  The children were starving.  The man was holding a riffle in his right hand as if standing guard.  I discussed this with the homeowner and he stated that was consistent with what he had done in the war.  Unfortunately, I can not determine if it was a placement memory of the homeowners or the entity was showing me this from his life.

Prior to concluding the hunt I was told by my spirit guide to tell the homeowner "Hi."  This was from "Dorthia, Dottie".  It was confirmed that she was also a relative of the homeowner.  Also someone by the name of "Shorty" briefly came through to say hi.  The homeowners did know a man by the name of "Shorty" from their past.  I did not get any further information than his name, therefore I could not validate it being his friend or someone else with the same name.  The homeowners did not seem frightened by their unseen guests and were happy to have them stick around.  They would like additional information about the spirits if it ever becomes possible.  But until then, they will continue to be gracious hosts.
