It's late and the house is quiet. The phone isn't ringing, the neighbors are asleep and nobody's home but you. It's the perfect time to unwind and relax. And then an old familiar feeling starts to creep into the back of your mind: someone is watching you. Shaking your head in self-recrimination for such skittishness, you arise to prepare for some well-deserved sleep.

As you move towards the beckoning bed, you feel it again. You swing around and findnothing but empty air. You must be more tired than you thought. Still, just to be safe you decide to sleep with the lights on.

Does this sound familiar? If so, you may be dealing with more than lack of sleep and excessive caffeine consumption. These vague experiences may point to an unseen tenant within your home, a spectral spy keeping an eye on you.

Like their living counterparts, ghosts can take on all number of manners and personalities. Some appear very brazen, displaying raw emotions and interfering with the lives of the living. Others, like that described above, are much more subtle.

Both scenarios were met with a home located on 8th Avenue North in St. Petersburg. Activity started the day the sale closed on the house: Oct. 31, 2001. The new homeowner planned to do some remodeling of the house. She went in to snap a couple of quick photographs as reminders of the "before" image. As she held up the camera, she felt it being slapped out of her hands. It slid across the room and a wall, shattering.

Still undeterred, she continued with her plans to renovate and move in. However, several times she arrived to find the construction works near the verge of panic. They felt that they had an unusually high number of on-the-job minor accidents, and sustained higher rates of scratches and scrapes then normal. Several walked off the job.

A cleaning man called the homeowner one morning to inform her that a large glass door from her entertainment set flew off the console and slammed into the floor. It was lodged so tightly that it took the construction crews to pull it out.

More disturbing was the reaction of her computer equipment in the in-home office. Though it worked well before the move, in this house she had gone through three hard drives, 4 mother boards, and 2 DVD players on her stationary computer, and her laptop was in a state of needing constant repair. The technicians could not explain why the computer problems occurred.

She witnessed her elderly dog sit up in bed late at night, wagging her tail as if greeting someone coming into the room. She saw shadows out of the corner of her eyes, her keys vanish, and locked doors appeared to unlock themselves.

She called in the SPIRITS to investigate.

During the investigation few images were captured, though the team sensitives felt the presence of a kindly old woman. She seemed to stay upstairs where her bedroom used to be. Research showed it might be the former homeowner who, with her first husband, built the house. After her husband died, she remarried and continued working on the house, with the biggest addition being the garage out back.

The garage also contained a male presence. Sensitives felt him asking about the whereabouts of a tree that he had liked. The homeowner explained later that the tree was sick when she bought the house and she had to have it cut down. Yet, his intimate knowledge of the house led the homeowner to conclude from her own research that he was related to the old woman, either as the second husband or as a grounds keeper.

The SPIRITS also thought there may be a third presence related to the house, perhaps that of a wandering ghost. He was possibly a thief who had broken into the house before, and was quite discontent with his life and his passing. He held a fascination for electronic equipment and it was he who was responsible for breaking it.

The homeowner is taking this in stride. She has asked the entities to stop unlocking the doors and taking her things.

"I smudge monthly," the homeowner explains. Smudging is the standard practice of burning sage and wafting the smoke throughout the household. It is believed to remove negative presences. She believes that the old woman's ghost left at the time of the first smudging.

As for the computer-tampering ghost, "I often yell at him when the computer acts us now and tell him to go towards the light. Brightening up the area of the office has changed things significantly, but he still has an attitude and messes with the computer. It crashed again on April 30 and then the laptop went down on the 7th of May." (802)

8 Ave North Investigation by Sandy Bard October 5, 2002

Present: Brandy, Susan, Sue, Scott, Denise, Sandy, Kevin (Tampa Tribune), C (Homeowner), B (Family friend), and

two dogs (pets of C and B).

History:

The home was built in 1934 and has had only one owner previous to C moving into the home in November of 2001. The home was bought from the estate of Eloise Stone, the original owner and builder. She and her first husband built the house and after his death in 1969, she remarried and her second husband built the garage in back while doing a major renovations. Mrs. Stone died in July of 2001 in her late 80s and C closed on the home in October of that same year.

C has psi abilities of reading peoples energies (empathic), has had two OBE and lucid dreams.

Activity:

C was standing in what now is the dining room on the day of the closing (October 31, 2001) taking

pictures for a before and after type of thing when the camera was knocked violently form her hands and

smashed against a wall behind her. In her downstairs home office she has had numerous computer

problems (i.e. shes been through tow hard drives since January of this year) as well as other electronic

problems. The first week of October 2002 workers in the home witnessed the glass door of the

entertainment center in the master bedroom fly off the center and land with such force that it stuck upright in the floor across the room. One set of workers complained of feeling strange in the house and one even went so far as to bless himself every time he entered the home. This same crew walked off the job without explanation one day. There have been numerous problems throughout the renovation such as the workers seeming to bleed at the top of a hat and things not working, as they should.

C reports feeling watched throughout the house and has had several episodes of suddenly being afraid in both the upstairs and down. Her dog has been known to sit on the bed and looks as if shes greeting

someone as they walk in to the room. C has also caught movement out of the corner of her eyes

throughout the house. Shes also come home to find the doors unlocked after she knows she locked them before leaving.

Investigation:

While standing outside waiting on the others to arrive I felt energy coming form the house as well as an

energy standing at the living room picture window looking out at us. Along the brick wall to the left of the

house I felt the energies of several children. As we sat in the Living Room getting equipment together I felt the presence of a tall, petite elderly lady standing at the railing on the second floor. She was dressed in a long white dressing gown with high neck, lace and ruffles. Very elegant and dignified, she took great pride in her home and appearance.

In the Master Bedroom I felt the energy of the elegant lady again and feel this was her bedroom. Scott

reported she was the type pf person you didnt want to make mad because she had a temper, even though she was a lady. I felt she had a Julia Sugarbaker quality to her. Susan reported she thinks the lady died of an illness while Scott got the image of her throwing a glass in anger. 1930s popped into my head while inthis room.

The Second Bedroom is currently being used for storage by C and is rather cluttered. Scott and Susan

both reported that the elegant lady was not happy with its present state. I sensed nothing in this room with the exception that someone liked to looked out the window there onto the street.

I felt nothing in the upstairs Bathroom, the Kitchen, Dining Room, or Family Room. However, going

downstairs into the Home Office was another matter. There was a definite energy change as we stepped from the bottom step. This area felt heavier than the upstairs and Scott and Susan reported they did not like the feel down there at all. I sensed a man standing in the corner with his arms crossed against his chest, unhappy we were in his space. He eventually resigned himself to the fact that we were there and not leaving but chose to withdraw himself for a while. Susan reported the word thief popped into her head while down there.

Out in the Garage (which is detached from the house) Susan picked up the strong energy of a man and the word Portuguese came to her. She suggested that we try an EVP and she heard the word no very

clearly coming from inside. Brandy reported that the digital voice recorder was acting up and she had a

hard time getting it set up. Susan felt the man was once a hired hand around the home and spoke little

English.

Stepping from the Garage into the backyard I got the image of the yard covered in flowers of all different

kinds. The elegant lady loved her garden and took great pride in it. She loved to walk around and look at all the beauty. I feel it gave her much comfort in her final days.

Conclusion:

During the interview we learned that Eloise Stone was the true meaning of the word lady. C has talked to her neighbors and they tell of a kind, gentle woman who was an avid gardener and took great pride in her home. She and her second husband were great collectors of antiques and art, filling the home with them. She was described as a petite woman and very elegant. While living in the home, the Stones were subject to several robberies in the downstairs where the Home Office is now.

There are at least two spirits in the home; one is Eloise who loves what C is doing to restore the house to its former beauty. She feels C has good taste. The second spirit is the man downstairs and I feel hes the one causing problems with the electronics. I have a suspicion of who the one breaking things around the house is but further research needs to be done.

8th AVENUE NORTH

OCTOBER 5, 2002

In this residence lives an elderly, petite, sophisticated woman, a man with heavy eye brows, a foreign handy-man and a feisty, playful young man. Seems like a full house, but surprisingly enough this does not include the people who are alive and well. Many spirits occupy this 8th Avenue North home. Therefore the SPIRIT team volunteered to investigate. For me this was my first hunt. At 6:30 pm the team, who consisted of Sandy, Susan and Scott, the sensitives of the group, Brandy, our fearless leader, Sue and of course myself, met and began an interesting three hour tour.

We started on the second level of the home, in the master bedroom. Together the sensitives encountered the spirit of a small, petite elderly woman in a white dress with lace to her neck. Sandy, Susan and Scott could sense her elegance. Using the E.L.F. meter several spikes were witnessed. A spike to eleven showed when scanning the bed. The exterior of the closet spiked to 21. When Scott first entered the master bedroom he looked out the bedroom window at the unattached garage. He made reference to a presence in the garage.

The team then entered the spare bedroom located on the northeast corner of the second story. Several pictures were taken with my Epson 750Z digital camera and a Studio 35 mm camera. Several orbs hovered over the team while they communicated with the elderly woman. While the SPIRT team wondered down stairs I awaited my turn to join them. Before I could leave the second story landing the back of my lightweight jacket flew up. Sandy came upstairs and stood by me. She felt the presence of a prankster. She heard laughter and felt the spirit was playing hide and seek with us. Photos were taken of the hallway and the spare bedroom. My digital camera picked up an orb above the curtain. Due to camera picking up an orb in the spare bedroom, the fact that my jacket flew up for no apparent reason and Sandy, the sensitive, feeling the presence of a prankster spirit, I have to give credence that something or someone wanted our attention AND got it.

The basement was next on our travels. Scott, Sandy and Susan all felt a significant change in this room. A male presence was very unhappy that we were there. He finally resided himself to the fact that he had no choice. He stood with his arms crossed and bearing down with his heavy eyebrows. Using the E.L.F. meter I did not witness any unexplained spikes. I also received no photographs of interest.

When the team entered the unattached garage they began talking to a male presence. He appeared to be from another country and did not speak English well. The presence was possibly a hired hand that helped build the garage and take care of a large tree in the back yard. He questioned where the tree had gone. Prior to reentering the residence Susan, Sandy and Scott discussed the garden and flowers that were once present. This was the elderly woman's happy place. For me, the rest of the house proved uneventful. There were no spikes on the E.L.F. meter that I could not explain.

To summarize my first hunt, I would have to say there were too many things the sensitives picked up on and without any first hand knowledge, were accurate to the statements given by the owner of the residence. For example; the elegance and physical appearance of the elderly woman, who was identified as the prior owner, the tree and flower garden being an important part of the home's history, the renovations and construction of the garage, and of course the prankster spirit flipping up the back of my jacket. In my amateur opinion "C", the current owner of 8th Avenue North, has many guests in her home, wanted or not.

8th Avenue North Paranormal Investigation

on Saturday, October 5, 2002

Upon entering the residence, Scott sensed an energy in the front window looking out. Susan, who arrived a few minutes later, also sensed an energy upon entering the residence.

The three sensatives: Susan, Scott, and Sandy sensed a presence of a gray-haired, elegant woman looking over the landing onto the first floor. We ascended the stairs and entered the master bedroom. There, Sandy felt the woman was serene and independent. She felt the woman was a 'Julia Sugarbaker' type person as in the TV show 'Designing Women'. Scott felt the woman was bold and strong and very petite and thin. When we interviewed the current owner later in the evening, she said the previous owner was indeed very tiny and elegant. Scott felt the dogs in the household talk to her. And while she was okay with the dogs, she preferred cats. He picked up on a name that ended up being the current owner's first name. He got a sense of southern Georgia.

Scott also felt the female presence had thrown some glass because she got upset. We later found out from the present owner that the left glass door of the entertainment center in this room crashed to the floor and almost hurt a handyman. The glass struck with such force, it was embedded in the floor. Scott also felt the woman used to have a desk by the window and would write letters there. Susan felt the female presence was a widow who had Parkinson's disease. The present owner later confirmed that the previous owner was widowed twice. Scott also felt a coolness near the window and we had an EMF spike of 21 in the master bedroom closet. From the upstairs master bedroom window, Scott looked out and sensed a male energy from the detached garage in back of the house.

In the spare bedroom, Sandy felt the female presence likes to look out the front window. She sensed laughter. She felt the female presence approves of the present owner. Sandy also got a date of mid-November. Earlier in the master bedroom, she got the date of '1930's'. Susan said the presence liked to paint. She felt that the spirit wanted to move things around in the spare bedroom. She felt the phrase 'Where's Diana' from the woman. For a date, she got '32'. She also got 'Gray' or 'Grey', but was unsure if this was a last name or color. Scott sensed the female presence was 5'2'' and didn't like the spare bedroom. He sensed lilies and lilacs. He briefly smelled perfume, but the team pointed out it could have come from something else in the room that the present owner later said hadn't held perfume or oil for nearly 10 years. We also got an EMF spike of 21 in the spare bedroom.

We descended to the first floor and then went down the few steps to the downstairs office. At the foot of the stairs, Sandy sensed an energy change. Susan said it was almost a vortex. Both Sandy and Scott said they sensed a male energy. Scott also sensed the name 'Jeremiah'. Scott didn't like the downstairs. Susan felt a cold spot in the middle of the room that was jumping around. The team noticed an air conditioning vent in the hall and hypothesized that the cold spot could have been triggered by air flowing through the vent. Susan also didn't like the downstairs. She sensed 'lots of trouble'.

In this room, the owner later told us she often feels watched and fearful in this room. She has also had many PC problems. She is currently on her 3rd hard drive and 2nd CD-Rom. She said that thieves had once entered the house via the downstairs jalousies window. Susan felt the male entity in the downstairs office may be one of those thieves.

In the downstairs attached garage next to the office, Scott felt someone was 'stomping'. The team felt it was the same male presence as that felt in the attached office. Susan felt the male presence had heavy knit eyebrows. Sandy felt the man had his arms crossed and was defensive. She said it was as if we were invading his space. She sensed him pacing and got the sentence 'You can leave anytime now'. The owner recently had contractors working on this downstairs garage. She said they were always hurting themselves and often asked her for band aids.

The team then went outside to the detached garage behind the house. We were standing outside the door for a few minutes and then Susan opened the garage door. As she did, I heard a low voice saying a word. However, I couldn't make out what. Susan asked if anyone else had heard it. She said she heard a voice say 'No'.

Sandy sensed waves of energy when she entered the garage. We all entered and attempted to pick up EVP using a digital recorder. At first, we had problems with the recorder. Then we got it working and the sensitives started asking questions. The answers Susan perceived were that the male presence was Portuguese, didn't live in the house ('that's were the boss lady lived'), he helped build the garage, he spoke with a foreign accent, and he had throat cancer. When asked why he was there, Susan sensed the presence was there because he works there even though he did know he had died. She felt the male presence in the detached garage was different than the one in the downstairs office. Scott sensed the male presence didn't trust men. Sandy sensed he was a hired hand who wasn't allowed to go into the house. She felt he might have been an illegal alien. She also felt him asking where his tree was. When we interviewed the current owner, we found she had recently had a tree near the detached garage removed because of termite damage.

Next, we left the detached garage and headed to the back yard. Sandy sensed lots of flowers and that the female presence loved them and took great pride in her home and garden. Scott felt there had been purple flowers there. Susan felt there had been gardenias. The present owner told us the previous owner was an avid gardener and that she had recently cut down all the vegetation because it had become overgrown from neglect. She's hoping the garden returns in the spring.

Upon re-entering the house into the downstairs office, Scott felt the phrase 'You again?'. We then proceeded to the attic. It was very hot and stuffy in the attic, yet Scott felt a cold spot near the ceiling. We didn't find much there so we descended down to the dining room on the first floor. Sandy felt the female presence believes the current owner has very good taste and approves of the redecorating that was done. Later, the owner told us her neighbors told her they feel the former owner would have indeed approved. Sandy sensed there used to be jalousies windows in the dining room. Scott felt the dining room was not part of the original house, that it was added later. The current owner later confirmed both of these things.

After walking through the entire premises, the team interviewed the owner. She said the home was built and owned by Eloise Stone who died in July of 2001 while she was in her 90's. She and her first husband built the home in 1934. He was Canadian and died in Canada in 1969. Her second husband made renovations. His last name was Stone and they were art and antique dealers. She knew the detached garage was the pride and joy of the builder. Based upon its age, she assumed that it was built by Eloise's second husband.

The current owner purchased the home on October 31, 2001. Later that day, she was near the kitchen and dining room taking pictures of her new home. Her digital camera flew out of her hands and across the dining room into the far wall. The force of the impact broke her zoom lens. While the camera itself still works, she said she has problems using it downstairs.

The sensitives didn't feel the presence who threw the digital camera was any of the three they encountered. They felt the woman was not violent or angry, the downstairs male presence stayed downstairs, and the male in the detached garage felt he wasn't 'allowed' in the house. Scott speculated there might be a fourth, more transient presence. He and Sandy then sensed a white male in his mid 20's of thin to average build. He was 6'1'' or 6'2'' with dark hair. He did of a gunshot wound and he's bothering the whole neighborhood, not just this one home. The year '1954' was sensed. The owner also speculated that the presence may have something to do with a gunshot and car pealing away that she heard around the 4th of July of 2002.

While interviewed, the current owner told us she sees things out of the corner of her eyes, has problems sleeping and concentrating, and misplaces things such as keys. She has piggy banks in the house that were full, but then finds them empty. She speculated that could be due to the young contractors working on the house. She also said that she often returns home and finds the back doors unlocked when she knows she locked them. It appears the current owner has exhibited some psi abilities. She feels she is an empath who absorbs other people's feelings. She also has had two out-of-body experiences following traumatic experiences in her life.

The owner and her guest wanted to know what to do about the three presences in her home. Brandy explained that the SPIRITS group does not do exorcisms. She did suggest a few things based on various religious and spiritual beliefs. She suggested the owner do only those things she's comfortable with. The team assured her they did NOT feel anything evil in her home. It was suggested that she speak assertively to the male presence downstairs. They didn't feel he would respond well to 'requests'. It was suggested the owner TELL him to leave. The owner knows a priest she will call to bless the house to put her mind at ease and hopefully help her feel peaceful in her new home.

Ghost hunting is a little like a treasure hunt, sometimes your empty handed at the end and other times

its like a pot luck of paranormal activities. The investigation of 8th Ave. north was somewhere

in-between. The home owner thought it was one playful spirit, but turns out to actually be three

permanent ghost and one that moves around the neighborhood.

I entered the house and got the feeling of warmth and openness. It was nicely decorated with bright

pieces of art and plush comforts. To sum up, the basic energy of the home was light blue. The home owner was in the middle of updating the home, so there was some old energy still inside the walls, but new energy was being placed all around.

The group started the investigation in far back bedroom. I was drawn to the large window that

overlooked the backyard. A lot of energy was coming from the car port which, upon arrival, we had not realized was in existence. Names and images flowed through the energy. Caroline was the name that came to me along with the image of a small woman with class and style. She took a lot of care with her image and loved things of beauty around her. I also got the sense of smashing glass, which was uncharacteristic of her. She was pleased with the way the house was coming along and wanted the owner to know it.

We moved to the extra bedroom which was being used as storage. The female energy was not happy

with this room. I got the feeling that she liked things in order while she was alive and that kept on even

after death. The most interesting thing that occurred to me was the smell of flowers, lily and lilacs. Also

the color of purple flowed throughout the room.

The next area was the lower floor. The lowest step was the bridge between the two very thick energies

in the house. This one was masculine and very dark. He wasn't happy with us being there and wanted us

to leave. An image of a man with his arms crossed. This energy wasn't positive about much in his life and

this seemed to rule his afterlife. The home owner told us afterwards that she had been having a lot of

computer problems down there and the sense of someone watching her. He never went upstairs and was

forced to stay in the lower levels; this fit him more anyway.

The third energy of the 9th street north investigation was found out in the car port. Not much in the way

of energy was provided to me, so this part of the investigation, I will leave for my fellow ghost hunters to

report about.

The garden, that was the backyard, was a buzz with energy. I could tell that this energy belonged to

the female resident that housed herself in the upper area of the home. Images of flowers and hot summer

days flooded my minds. She loved this area of the home and had put a lot of time into making it very

special. Once again the color purple was very thick and she was happy that the new owner was starting

to rebuild what had once been there.

Finally there is the roamer ghost of this house. He was the prankster of the neighborhood and we nor

the home owner had any idea that he was there, until we had finished the hunt. All members of the group

were settled in the living room and listening to the stories of the home owner. At first they didn't seem to

match what our finding had turned up. Such as, when the owner of the home first closed on the home and

was taking pictures of it the camera flew out of her hands and slammed against the far wall, breaking the

camera. This didn't seem like something the female energy would have done and the two male stayed in

their own areas.

It was about this time that another hunter and myself started to focus in on the prankster. His energy

was focused on the street and moved throughout the neighborhood. The image of a car speeding away

with the sound of a gun shot trailing behind. It turned out that the owner had awoken one night with the

sound of gun shot, followed by the sound of a car speeding away. I am not sure if these two things are

tied together or not. But it would seem that the problems we has been having stem from this prankster

ghost.

Overall it was a very active home and I wish the owner the best of luck.

Other Notes:

This was an unusual investigation. We had two new members, two semi-new members, and two senior members. We also had a reporter with us, and the home owner had a friend with her who was a skeptic.

As soon as we enetered the building, Scott and Sandy sensed and older woman. She was described as elegant, and felt standing in the landing. She had died of an illness, congestion.but was dressed in lace and ruffles. She was widowed, curious. She liked the homeowner's white dog. Names came to them, including: Susan: "Dawn" or "Diana" and Scott: Caroline. Scott also sensed that she had a desk at the bedroom widnow.

In the bedroom, she was also very strongly sensed. In the spare bedroom, some discontentment was felt as it was being used for storage. Items were not neatly stacked in this room. Activity was sensed at the bedroom window. Several of Denise's digital images showed white orbs in this room.

Outside the bedroom, Scott sensed that she was about 5 foot 2 inches tall. Denise did record a small EMF spike of 21 on Susan's meter. They also heard the term "grey", which had also been sensed in the bedroom earlier, and heard a question"Where's Diana?" The sensitives also sensed that the entity approved of the current homeowner.

Denise believed she felt her shirt being raised up as she waited to go down the stairs. Several took images on the stairwell. Results inconclusive.

In the downstairs area, the bottom step seemed to be a demarcation for several. Energies in the office shifted to a male entity named "Jeremiah"he was standing with his arms crossed, knit brow. I felt dizzy in this area. I did take a Polaroid image, which was negative. Several linked Jeremiah with a thief, and felt a very negative, controlling presence with him.

In the carport, another male was sensed. He was possibly Portuguese. While in the garage, we attempted an EVP. Results have not been fully analyzed as of yet. The sensitives heard the name "Philip".I noticed that my digital recorder, which normally holds at least 22 minutes of recording time, was down to only 4 minutes. I could not get the recorder to record properly, though it had been downloaded, and worked in prior situations. Also, I noticed that my red flashlight continually faded in the darkness, and almost went out all together. When I used the flashlight later, it burned brightly. I have not known my flashlight to lose power in such a fashion before.

During the Q and A session, several felt that Philip was concerned over a tree, and wanted to know where it had gone. He also was connected, somehow, to fish.

In the backyard, several sensed that a woman worked out there. S he loved the flower bed. She had gardenias. It was a comfortable area.

In the attic, Scott sensed a cold spot. We found a strange billy club like item, with rat poisoning. One of my digitals came back with an orb image in the attic, though there was a noticeable draft coming from the front of the room.

The Kitchen was pretty null, though Susan sensed confusion, and the dining room was a happy place.again, the sensation that the entity was happy with the way the house was being redone. Scott also sensed a Christmas Tree was once placed there.

Interview: Carole told us that there were two men that once lived in the home. Both were husbands of Eloise Stone, the last owner of the house. The first built the home in 1934. He was Canadian and died away from the area. The Second husband was married after 1969. His origin is unknown, but he used to hang out in the garage a lot.

The tree that was outside was discovered to have termites shortly after Carole moved in. She had the tree cut down, as it was nearly dead, and the house tented.

Eloise died in the late 1990s. She and her second husband had been art and antique dealers.

Carole bought the home Oct. 31st 2001. She moved in in Nov. 2001. Her first experience was when she came in to take photos, just after purchasing the house. She felt a force grab the camera and hurl it across the room. The camera broke.

Strange things started to happen downstairs. In Jan. she set up the computer for her office and home business. She has since gone through three hard drives, 2 DVD players, and her laptop keeps breaking. She takes it to be fixed, and the store can find nothing wrong. Electronic equipment tends not to work well downstairs, including her cameras. Cameras in outer areas work fine.

Several SPIRITS members piped up at this point and offered her information that the entity was possibly a thief who had broke in . Carole did confirm that there had been several break ins with the prior owners.

The week before the investigation, Carole was informed by a cleaning man that one of her large glass doors on the entertainment set flew off the console and jammed itself into the floor. It took construction crews to pull it out of the floor. She did not witness the event, but cannot imagine that the door was weak or loosened, and cannot understand how it landed as it did.

Scott and Sandy began to discuss the possibility of a roaming prankster ghost. Something related to a carCarole added that last July there was some unusual activity at her neighbor's home. The neibhbor's car had been hit, and she heard a gun shot, then a car screeching out. It was 2:17 a.m. She thinks that may be related to the strange goings on at the house.

Her dog also sits up later at night as if greeting someone in the room.

She has seen shadows out of the corner of her eye, but turned to find no one there.

She has had the sensation of feeling watched.

She has had objects disappear or move. She often cannot find her keys, and has problems with the locks of her home unlocking themselves. She is missing many quarters (though workers could have stolen these).

She has had problems with construction workers. one got to the point of crossing himself whenever he was in the house. They needed minor first aid treatment (band-aids), more often than usual. Finally, they ultimately walked off the job. The new contractor, according to Carole, is a big man, who works hard and has "little time for anything else"

Observations & Conclusions: This was a very strange investigation. For one, there was little EMF recorded during the investigation. Few cold spots. Some anomalous images did appear on digitals, however. Yet, the house had a highly reflective quality. Several images showed reflection lines. or light orbs (possible reflections).

Carole feels that she is psychic, or has psi tendencies. She has a wide knowledge of religions and several varieties of religious text were around the room. She has had OBE/NDE experiences, and feels she is empathic.

Her friend was a strong skeptic, which is fine, but interjected questions at inappropriate moments. This, coupled with a discussion going towards sympathetic magic and religions, as well as discussion of an exorcisms (which the SPIRITS will not do; Carole has a priest who was recommended to her by a neighbor), I felt rather uncomfortable at the end. It was an atypical conversation for the SPIRITS, and had an additional "outside" witness in the reporter.

The house blessing (which is what I suspect will be the result of the priest's visit, not exorcism) may put Carole's mind to ease and slow or stop the amount of phenomena.

Though they did well, it is always different to adjust the team to the addition of new members who have new equipment, knowledge, and techniques.

The home may have residue from the prior home owner. She lived in the home most of her life (from the 1930s to the 1990s) and probably has a strong vested interest in the area. Construction also tends to attract and awaken entities who are resistant to change. However, the house felt comfortable for me, with the exception of the downstairs room. Others identified the woman and knew that she was benevolent and relatively happy.

The idea of the roaming spirits is interesting, but how can it be validated? It almost seems speculative to me, brought up by suggestion.

Carole's camera incident: she did buy the house on Hallowe'en, a time of high belief in spirits and associated with the supernatural. The door incident she did not directly witness. I am not sure either is a direct result of the entity who may reside there.

The digitals did produce some orbs for both Denise and myself. Denise reports she has some images on 35 mm, too. I have not been able to process or research the house more.

Carole was to see if she could find out a little more about the homeowners, including the origin of the second husband, how Eloise died, and when the garage had been added on. At this point, she has been unable to confirm any more details.

I would feel more comfortable if we had more to go on. Scientifically, very little occurred that was a recorded anomoly. Some of the info gathered did appear to match up with the homeowner's understanding, but some of it could have been inferred from surroundings (the tree stump outside, though low to the ground, could have influenced the question of the tree, etc.) Some of the information (grey, Carole, the home owner's name, Diana, Dawn) remains either incorrect, or unconfirmed.

Oddly, having recently read about low frequency soundwaves being associated with hauntings, I'd be curious to see if there were any eminating from Carole's home, particularly downstairs. I'd have to learn how to test properly for such an occurrence, but I think some of the phenomena are based upon natural events.

No new occurrences, in fact since I opened up the wall in the garage and turned it into a sunny den that opens into the office and replaced the door in the office to an all window pane door I feel pretty good. I even told the gentleman who lives down here that I would have a TV for him to watch soon.

Still have the door unlocking occasionally but I talk to whatever and tell them that they aren't safe and could let god knows who in if they keep doing it...

Still haven't found out any other info on the previous owners.

11/30/03: Post investigation information:

Look forward to getting your new works. I had Nancy Vann, a psychic and exorcist or spiritual cleansing person visit my home and she identified the two gentlemen and a little girl along with a personal attachment to me. The two men were the same description that your organization gave. They said why they were here and it was very interesting. They were very confused because all of the environment had changed and the one downstairs was angry.

Sure you can share. She also said that I had attracted a spirit while in France and that her weaknesses both physically, emotionally and spiritually were very similar to mine. She had lived in France in the late 1800s. She saw me walking down her street several years ago. I was holding flowers and looking very sad. She said that I looked foreign and she knew I would take her somewhere new. Nancy said that her depression and sadness had emphasized the impact of my own depression and sadness. Rachel, the young woman, had died of throat cancer or syphilis or something. It was sad. But now she is gone. They are all gone and the man who was in the basement she identified as Portuguese which is what your group said was the nationality of the man in the garage as well.

Both the Portuguese man and the French woman were concerned about the piano. Apparently there was a piano here or with the man at one time and he was very disturbed that someone had misplaced it. He was looking for his daughter Carolyn and was upset that I had changed my hair. Nancy explained that I was Caroline and not Carolyn, his daughter. The French woman Rachel was a performer and was sad because I had taken her music away and now she could no longer sing. She kept referring to the piano that no one played. At first I couldn't understand. But then I realized that my ex had a baby grand piano that played with disks and it played all of the time while we were dining or entertaining. When I left him two years ago I came to Florida and also stopped going to the Met to the Opera and to shows on Broadway. I felt so guilty that I had denied her all of these things, then I realized how much I miss them myself.

It is also funny that since Archie, my new puppy, came to live with me he has been up and down barking in the middle of the night. The experience was very freeing and now even my dog has stopped waking up at 3am and barking. He also no longer goes up to my dining room at all times of the day and night and just sits and barks. It's all so amazing. Please share...

Garage: Some thought they felt more heat in the garage. Jesse proposed it was simply that the heat had shifted from one point of the garage to the other based upon proximity to door. Tried EVP, no response to meter.

Upstairs: Tried communication again. Only 1 spike and that was before we asked questions.

Discussion with homeowners:

Motion detectors go off (as if the door was opening, though no door opened); occurred at least 6 times as late as yesterday.

Did ask homeowners to check wiring. Alarm company did check wiring as late as September.

House next door has ad activity – pots and pans would be moved all over the floor.

Denise got the name of Gordon and a “J” name; Jason? Homeowner said those were her neighbors. Perhaps they had a displaced spirit…

Information on energies: The garage was where the first group (of whom only two were present) had sensed the energies of the Portuguese gardener. He was not allowed in the house and he slept in the garage on a cot. He was probably the male presence in the house.

Homeowner is sensitive, empathic. After the investigation, I spoke with her. She thinks that she can narrow down the source of her emotions to a luncheon; she believes that she may have brought someone’s troubles home with her from another event.

Overall, homeowner was pleased that the house seemed to be cleansed of everything else. We didn’t find much of anything, but I was pleased that the SPIRITS picked up the two areas that corresponded with the last hunt (though it was the wrong bedroom).

Evie's report.

This is a recheck of a house that was orginally investigated by the SPIRITS group a couple of years ago. The group for this investigation consisted of 7 members and one potential member (Brandy, Carrie, Debbie, Denise, Evie, Jesse, Mary, & Verna). We opened the investigation at 6:40 by announcing what we were doing and asking any spirits present to interact with our equipment in a positive manner. We split into two groups, with one group checking the outside and the other group checking the inside.

Mary felt a male energy outside on the path by the front fence. Verna felt an energy in the garage by the car entrance. The outside are included the normal power lines but no high voltage power lines near the house. We got a few small spikes on the trifield meter in the garage but nothing significant and nothing unusual in the rest of the yard.

In the inside we had EMF readings off the chart in an area about 6 feet from side to side going the whole width of the house. The area included a stairwell that the homeowner reports getting very emotional when she stands at the top of the stairs.

Mary had a heavy feeling in the master bedroom but attributed it to the massive furniture that was in the room. We found one cold spot in the hallway and discovered the bathroom window open so that explained that.

Everyone came together in the living room & discussed findings. We went back to the master bedroom and the garage but was unable to get much reaction from the meters.

The homeowners gave us information about what has been going on in the house that made them ask for an investigation. They moved away for a couple of years and recently came back to live in the house again. They security system keeps sounding like someone is opening an ourside door but no doors have been opened.

We closed the investigation by asking that any spirits remain where they are and not follow us home.

I reviewed my pictures on the camera but have not had time to view them on the computer. If I find anything unusual, I will forward them to the SPIRITS.

Investigation: 8th Avenue North

Date: November 11, 2007

On November 11th the SPIRITS were sent to re investigate a home located on 8th Avenue North, St Petersburg, Fl. It was a clear evening and the temperature was mild. There was no prior information offered prior to this investigation. The only information that was confirmed was that it had been previously investigated by the SPIRITS.

Upon entering the home, I felt absolutely nothing. The house was adorned with art work I presume which was done by the owner. It was modest and very comfortable. At this point I really did not feel anything unusual.

Denise and Debbie set up their equipment and we broke into two groups. My group started with the outside. There is a garage located in the back of the house. Upon entering the garage the word “abuse” formulated in my mind. I could sense an energy in the garage. I asked Mary who was investigating with me to feel around, she then agreed that there was energy in the garage. We then saw some movement in the area where the energy was felt. Then with in a moment or two we were able to verify that a rodent was in the garage moving around. But it was not the energy that I was picking up on.

We continued outside the garage and Mary was picking up on energy near the walk way beside the house leading to the front yard. Mary took a few snap shots and was able to pick up on a few orbs.

We then moved into the interior of the house. Once I again I felt absolutely nothing. We moved around while there was filming and EVP recording. We then moved to the second floor and entered into the two different bedrooms. The front bedroom had a little bit of energy, but not enough for me to decipher any thing. The second bedroom was a different story. You could feel a heavy ness and also a cold breeze was right at the door. In that bedroom you tell there was something in the room. Later after exiting the room, we were able to identify the breeze coming from the bathroom window.

We then proceeded downstairs and the homeowner had a slight emotional breakdown. She said that she was picking up on some energy by the door that leads to the garage that was renovated attached to the house. We began filming that area to see if we could pick up on orbs or anything like that. Denise was watching the monitor that she had set up downstairs.

We then proceeded as a group through the inside of the house, outside and substantiated some of the information.

We then sat down with the homeowner and discussed what we had found and she then gave us some feed back of what her experiences were. It seemed that the original owner had a Hispanic Gardner who was not allowed in the house and this gentleman lived in the garage. That may have been the energy we were picking up on in the garage. Currently Mary and I have been trying to verify some of the information involved in the home. It appears that the homeowner was having problems with the door alarm going off when no one was entering or exiting the home. Under further investigation through records, Mary was able to verify that the second home owner (previous owner from the current) had a lawsuit with a well known security alarm company. At this time, we are seeking more information. Could this possibly be a haunting involving the prior homeowner or perhaps the home owner at that time was experiencing the same strange phenomena with her own alarm system?

Another thing to point out is that the home had very high EMF readings. I am not sure what the source might be. I know the house is old and the wiring may have something to do with this. The investigation was then closed.
