80th Ave.
Jan. 30, 2004
In life, children are enigmas, but they are perhaps more so in the afterlife.  While a child ghost always presents some aspect of remorse for one who died so young, it also tends to be more physical in the way of communication.  Yet, when asked direct questions by sensitives, children can be as elusive as any other paranormal being.

The investigation on 80th Ave. was a wonderful example of just such a spirit. Though he had lived there for over 15 years, he had often had the sense of someone else present in the home. The activity became worse as he continued to remodel the house.  He heard pops, electronics acted up, and he saw light and partial manifestations around him.

An avid collector of model trains, he had a favored engine that he enjoyed playing with.  One night, he was running this model engine for several hours.  His wife requested that he shut the train down as it made too much noise.  He complied, but the next morning came in to find the engine gone.  After searching, it was discovered in the pantry, all circuitry fried.  He sent it to the manufacturer to have it repaired and they confirmed that the toy looked as if it had been struck by lightning.  Neither the homeowner nor his wife could explain it.

He also reported that his young granddaughter often spoke to an “invisible friend” in her bedroom.  The area of discussion was limited to a single bedroom, and her behavior was normal in all other parts of the house.

Sensitives picked up a young boy who stayed there.  He was not a resident of the home but “dropped in” after his death of heart complications.  He liked the area and opted to stay.  However, the renovations made him uncomfortable and he was throwing “tantrums”, especially since the homeowner removed something from the backyard that the boy loved.  (The homeowner later confirmed that he had taken out a sandbox and sealed one of the doorways leading directly outside).

The homeowner reported that he, and others, had heard the rustling of skirts in the home.  He had, at one point, seen the lower half of a woman manifesting in front of him, though she was not present for the SPIRITS investigation.  He also mentioned a former homeowner who was murdered in the house, but he, too, seems to have gone on.

Yet, why the boy was there no one knows.  Did the grandchildren attract him?  The homeowner’s own sense of play with the engines?  Though he didn’t answer the questions directly, the boy was still willing to play with those present.  The homeowner asked for a print of one of the SPIRITS images.  He went to his computer to download the picture and, for reasons unknown, his printer would not turn on.  It worked before the investigation, and, as we were alerted the next day, afterward.  Apparently, the little boy was making his point.

After the SPIRITS investigation, the homeowner chose to have the house prayed over by a minister in order to have the ghost removed.  The fate of the little boy is unknown, though we certainly hope that he is happy, wherever he may be.

Homeowner reports premonitory dreams.  Reports other witnesses to events:  wife, kids, sister, who formerly lived in or visited the home.  Has had past paranormal experiences happen to him:  lived in a haunted house in Cameron Florida.  Extensive haunting activity.  People saw the entity manifest.

Also has done research on paranormal and has an extensive library about haunting.

Brandy's Report:
Abnormalities:  Raining lightly; cold front moving through
Susan, Sue, Amy, Linda, Brandy, Jeanne are the investigators present
Homeowner present.  No one else on site.

Investigation began at 6:50 PM

EMF was remarkably low through all of the house.  It ranged from .2 - .6 on the 0-3 scale.
Temperature fluctuation was between 68 - 71.5 degrees.

Because of even temperatures through house and lack of EMF (with the exception of four spikes, 2 near electrical outlets, 1 near a clock radio, 1 near appliances), the remainder of the report will focus on the remainder of the information collected.

Train room:  Brandy felt chill on legs.  Linda also reports a breeze.  Brandy retrieved a feather from homeowner (common dust mop feather) and used it to try and determine where breeze was coming from.  No reaction from feather; no detectable breeze.  I had trouble with my camera; it was slow and unresponsive.  It took several tries for me to get the camera to work.  It was affected during the first walk through, but not the second, nor anywhere else in the home.

Dining room:  Null

Examination of digital photos on site revealed bright orb above the fan in the train room.  The next picture showed a smaller orb, lower down on the wall, and the final picture had no orbs.

Laundry room:  colder than other rooms, but there was an exterior door in the area.

Livingroom:  Drafty.  Tried feather again near doorway.  Small breeze affected part of the feather by the door, but minimal.  Later examination of images showed light orbs over seated teammate.

Bedroom 1:  Linda reported a breeze, my hands were cold.

Bedroom 2:  nothing unusual.  Examination of orb images later showed a light orb over Jeanne.

Bathroom:  Null.

Group discussion:
Susan:  House EMF stable, but sensed something near bedroom 1, near closet.  Her hands were shaky, she felt a small child in the area.  In the dining room she heard "younger brother", and in the train room, near the artifacts, she heard "Elenore, Dan/Don".  Sensations in dining room:  attachment to items.  Heard the date 1920s.  Reports camera troubles in train room.

Amy:  Dining room chair:  felt someone was sitting there.

Sue:  Nothing.

Jeanne:  Notes low EMF everywhere, and the cold spots she felt.

Linda:  Breezes in train room

Brandy:  Cold hands, chills, camera problems in train room.

Decided to focus on the train room and the front bedroom.

Train room:

Susan heard name "Elenore" and felt it was connected with the coin or jewelry collection.  She followed her items, which had come into possession of the homeowner.

Texas, Mexico also came to mind.   She was a residue haunting.

Heard "younger brother of builder"

She felt a quiet presence, male, which coincided with a fluttering sensation in her chest.

"Do you like the homeowner?"
Yes, he's OK.

"What about renovations?"
Not thrilled with renovations.

Susan felt this was not the same entity as before, but a young boy.  She described him as having temper tantrums when the house was being remodeled.

Last date remembered:  1947...then Susan thought it was 1974.  Thought entity might have a dyslexia.

The child died, but not in the house and she thinks he had a heart problem.  She picked up the name Patrick Brown, or Bowen, and he was a Jr.  His father was also Patrick Brown or Bowen.

His age was 6 - 7, main house ghost.

The mother's name was Delores.

He likes the toys in the house.  Does not like to see things change.  He has an older sister.

I asked for more information on the homeowner:

Answer:  he works a lot.

Susan sensed a child in homeowner's life.  Entity said that "she" was nice and he liked her.

He didn't like how they painted the room with the flowery images (sponge painted area in the second bedroom).  That was his room.

I asked about what changes to the house he didn't like.  Susan answered:

Didn't like that the sandbox was gone.  Something important outside was gone, like a swing, and he didn't like that.  He missed the object.

There was also a door in the back of the room that was gone, and he missed that.  It may have led to the back yard.

I asked what he did to the house to make his presence known.  Answer:  played with the lamps and turned them on and off.  He also turned things off that were on, and others on that were off.

Susan reported that the entity was hard to deal with; quiet and reluctant to answer many questions.

Bedroom 1:  Susan thought that the entity liked the closet and that he threw shirts on hangers to the floor.  She also thought that the entity might run through the house at night.

Homeowner interview:
Brandy read the homeowner's document (first time any had read it; homeowner filled it out while on premises).

Summarized our findings.

Homeowner:
The original owner of the home was murdered in 1974 in the home for his coins.  The man who killed the homeowner was sentenced to life for 20 years.  The killer lived near the house and his mother's name was Delores.  As far as the homeowner knew this individual still lived; he had met him 2 years prior to the investigation.

The homeowner did have a sandbox, which his granddaughter used.  (Susan asked the granddaughter's name.  Homeowner answered Brittany.  Susan said she picked up the name "Ashley", which is another of the homeowner's grandchildren).

Homeowner also said that there was a door and wall in the back of the train room which he had removed.

He reports that his granddaughter often talked with an imaginary friend in the 2nd bedroom.

Reports that activity increases during times of remodeling, which has happened on and off since 1985, when he bought the house.

During the first remodeling session, he and his wife saw a small ball of light that popped and moved.  It was a peach color.  It stopped in the hallway for a few seconds.  Both he and his wife, sitting on the couch, saw it.  It made a sudden popping sound and then flew down the hall.  There was no unusual electronic or weather in the area for the day.

He also had a train engine that he loved.  It was electronic and made a lot of noise.  He liked to run his trains early in the morning and in the evening.  He ran it for a while one night, and his wife asked him to turn it off, for it made too much noise.  He ran it for a little while longer, then shut it off.  The next day he went out to work the train and when he got there the engine was missing.  He could not find it any where.  He asked his wife about it; she had not touched it.  He finally found it in a closet (the pantry area).  He put it back up on the tracks, and it was totally dead.  Sent it in for repairs; it was fried internally as if it had been struck by lightning.  There were no storms in the area, and nothing else was affected by the train engine.

He said that three people had died in the home; but did not specify more.

He mentioned seeing the lower part of a woman manifest in the house.  She was wearing pants.  However, he often heard swishing and popping sounds in the house that he described it like the sound of skirts moving.

SPECIAL NOTE:  During the homeowner interview we had some unusual activity.  First, the homeowner saw an image that I had taken and wanted to try to get a hard copy of it.  He said he would see if his printer would print it.  When he went back to the printer, it would not work and it had no power.  Amy and Sue (who is IT oriented) both checked the computer with homeowner.  It was missing the power cable.  Homeowner reported that the cable had been there an hour before the SPIRITS came and that he had printed out a worksheet.

We asked if things like this happened before; he said not normally to the computer but he did have things disappear before.

We asked for the entity to return the cable.  Before we left, homeowner checked the cable again.  It was back, but not connected to the printer.  Sue, Amy and homeowner connected the cable, but printer still did not work.

Before we left we asked that the printer be allowed to work again.  Homeowner, to that point, had no problems with the system.

As the SPIRITS team prepared to leave, homeowner came out and reported that he heard another popping sound in the train area, just as he prepared to pick up the phone.

The next day (1/31) homeowner called to report that his printer was working fine today.  He was not home after the investigation and had to be at a jobsite in Gainesville Saturday morning.  To my knowledge, he did not work with the printer nor display the skills needed to fix it.

The homeowner has invited the SPIRITS to return during the time it is refurbishing to see if the entity manifests.  We plan to try to go back within the two month time period of reconstruction.

Brandy   (you can include this or not)
I got the sense that there was someone that did not want any changes made to house for fear that something would be lost.  I can't explain what that means that's just the feeling I got.

We met at the residence at 6pm. Six of us were present- myself, Amy, Sue, Linda, Brandy, and Susan. After meeting with the home owner, we divided into 2 groups of 3 for our initial walk-through.  I went with Brandy and Linda. We started in the dining room, where we got no EMF. We moved to an adjoining room with a large table set up for a train set. There was very little EMF in this room despite the train and some computer equipment. Brandy felt a chill near the entrance to that room. She got out a feather, and we used it to check for possible drafts in the area.  We found none. Then we went through the laundry room, and the living room. No EMF in either, but Linda and I felt a chill in the living room. We checked around the front door and windows for drafts with the feather and found none. Next we went into the larger bedroom. We got a small EMF spike near the dresser, but found an outlet behind it. Last, we went through the smaller bedroom and the bathroom, and got no EMF. The whole house has very little EMF.      We met with the other group to discuss the findings.  We agreed to check the train room first. Susan had felt a sensation of someone tapping her shoulder in the doorway. She sensed a male there who was uncomfortable with so many people in the room. Most of us left so that she could try to talk to him. She said that he was unhappy with the changes that have been made with the house. The owner had done some remodeling. She also sensed a young boy named Patrick. He didn't like the remodeling either, and especially didn't like the color that his room had been painted. There had also been a sand box and swings in the back yard that he missed. Susan said that he likes to play with things in the house, like turning lights on and off, and knocking clothes off hangers in the closet. He also likes to run through the house at night.  We met with the homeowner, and he told us what had been going on in the house, which is all in Brandy's report. When we were through, we were having some snacks with the homeowner, and talking with him. He said that he works a lot of hours, and hadn't been home a lot lately. Susan said that she thought that the little boy missed him. When she said that, the homeowner said that he got a chill, and the hair on his neck stood up. He said that it was a really odd feeling. We got out our cameras and took pictures of the area.                                                                      In conclusion,  I found nothing in any of my 35mm photos. I did feel a chill in the living room that we couldn't explain.  The EMF readings were very low everywhere in the house.
