Brandy's addendum: 10-25-08

I ended up going to bed around 1- 1:30.  Around 6:40 or so I woke up after having this dream:

There were five of us planning some sort of tour or meeting up in New York.  It looked like we were in an old jail or something of the sort.  I had this BOOK of a report of phenomena that I had discovered doing investigations out there and I told the other 4 SPIRITS members about it.  As I finished, a cabinet on the wall across from us opened on its own.  I remember saying "Another thing to note in the report".  I also, for some reason, signed the report (which looked like a research paper).  This reminds me of what my Eckerd College students must do  as they honor the "pledge" that this is their work (perhaps a reminder of my upcoming presentation this week)?

Next to us was a tour of the facility.  This is where fantasy and reality merge.  Scully and Mulder were on this tour.  They had been there in years prior (4 years ago?) when the people that I had investigated as ghosts had been killed.  Part of this is seen through the eyes of Scully, who started to have flashbacks.  She saw a TV shoot with two Hollywood stars -- a man and a woman -- who were standing on a boat at the dock to the building.  They were filming a final scene when both were shot.  Both fell into the water, but were alive.  It turns out that the bullet wounds were not fatal but that both drowned.  In this flashback, "I" went into the water with the victims and actually felt the panic of drowning.  Not pleasant.  Scully's flashback continued as not only were these two killed, but the Captain of the boat had also been murdered and thrown overboard.  She, as a forensic doctor, was studying the body when it opened its eyes and began to plead with her "Please, please, please!" over and over again.  There was a 4th person killed and, oddly, I think it was Mulder, who, for a brief instant, assumed to form of the dead captain to tell Scully that it wasn't her fault.  Since "Mulder" had been with her on the "tour" this also indicates that he was the 4th "ghost" of the building and that his presence was that of a ghost.

Anyway, the whole thing woke me up in a state of panic (drowning, dead bodies pleading for help).  I was actually shaking, despite the fact that the dream contained unreal elements from the X-Files. 

I plan to include this in my report, I guess, because I have not really remembered a dream in quite some time.  I find it odd, as well, that it is right after a ghost hunt, though it might explain the contents of the dream.  I did eventually go back to bed for several hours with no problems or dreams.

Brandy's EVP:  We had some trouble with a band playing next door.  However, at this time no band is playing and the noise does not match any other background noise recorded.  However, the message is uncertain.

Addendum from Evie (10-31-08):  I forgot to put that Mary and I were getting ready for the investigation on Saturday and were in her hallway talking.  The hall bathroom light went out and we couldn't get it to come on.  Then the light came on but only dimly.  We decided not to shut the light off  any more in case we couldn't get it to come on again and we didn't want to go to home depot at that time for new bulbs.  The last person that was in the bathroom on Saturday after the investigation, turned the light off.  The light wouldn't come back on but after everyone left, I went in there and without thinking, flipped the switch and the light came on like it should do and continued to work until we left.  Don't know what to make of it but after all of the strange things that happened while I was there, who knows?

Brandy: Many of the EVPs that we heard that night (we stopped to listen as a group to the EVPs recorded to the computer) I later discounted upon a closer listening via headphones. A band was playing next door and, despite requests to allow us 15 minutes to do our recordings, each time the band allowed 5 minutes (I have it timed via the computer). We started immediately upon being informed of the band's breaks and the lengths of time. One EVP occurred during the break and about a minute later I said "The band has started to play again" and another member agreed that we "Might as well stop." However, the EVP is one that is not clear. I have cleaned it up the best that I could but I fear doing too much manipulation to the sound track (when is an EVP no longer an EVP but an over-filtered sound bite?) I have slowed it down by 8%, taken out as much background noise as possible, brought it out from the background, and made it as loud as possible. The Paranormal Puck was the other interesting aspect to this investigation. The Puck really did little at this home. It answered a few questions, then stopped, despite recording EMF.

Brandy: I just felt exhausted in the home. I was tired to go in with, but not to the level that I left. I had a migraine the next day.

Brandy: I know that the homeowner inherited the home from her parents and that there are quite a few unique and antique items there.

Evie - I felt a lot of energy in the master bedroom. I came out of the master bath and felt a lot of energy behind me. I asked for someone to take pictures behind my back, over my right shoulder and the picture has double orbs in one photo and three orbs in another photo of the same location.

Evie - the house was built in 1968 and the current owner is the 3rd owner of the house.

Evie - while visiting the home owner, I witnessed the ceiling fan in the family room start turning by itself. Not just a movement but complete revolutions of the fan. I also heard noises at night that sounded like something fell and hit the floor.

Brandy's report:

We attempted 2 major EVP sessions, though I had nothing on any of my recordings.

For some reason, the digital pictures that I took at this home were blurry.  This is unusual for this camera which is relatively new and has produced few blurry shots before.  For many of them I was sitting down (no forward movement) to blur them further.

Notes:  First use of Ovilus in the field.  The Ovilus continued to say "miltary", weather (3 times), upstairs (livingroom, guestroom, bedroom, dining room), stairs, step, throughout the house.  It also said the phrase "military drink" in the bedroom. 

I did ask the homeowner about this, as this house had no upstairs to it.  She commented that her first encounter with a ghost was when she was a child and it took place in an upstairs room.  However, I am not sure that has any connection to this case.  I had some trouble with the Ovilus as I was not aware that it went through batteries every 2 - 3 hours and was already at the end of its battery life.

The Paranormal Puck session was interesting.  I highlighted a section of it that I found to be potentially a connection to the entity that may be in the house.  In addition to the Paranormal Puck, Beth and Les, who had not been in the house nor knew any history of it, were of great help.  Beth picked up the word "Mom" -- then got the sensation of "NO.  MOTHER" in the livingroom.  Homeowner explained about Mother Ruth (see above) who was a grandmother by marriage (step-grandmother?) to her.  Mother Ruth had been seen twice in the house -- once by the homeowner's son and once by the homeowner's grandson.  I do not believe that either one of them had met her before.  "Mother Ruth" was NOT called "mom" due to her marriage into the family but was associated as "MOTHER Ruth". 

During this time, the homeowner's pug started to press up against the homeowner.  She didn't show any real signs of overt fear, but had, throughout the night, been circulating more comfortably among the guests.

Additional inquiries in the living room produced strong spikes (Beth said that she could actually feel the energy when the meter was going to spike).  The entity indicated that it was there, it was associated with the china cabinet, and that the cabinet belonged to her (homeowner could not substantiate if the cabinet was Mother Ruth's, though items on it were, as was the furniture around the cabinet).

Beth also sensed the homeowner's mother.  She felt a tight crink in her neck and the homeowner's mother had a neck injury during her life (though I do not believe that it led directly to her death).  Beth felt that this was a distinct entity from Mother Ruth, and I believe her.  Beth's accuracy is quite good.

The aspect of "military" has me curious as the last time we seemed to get something similar.  Even the EVP had the garbled message on it that we cannot make out -- a response, I believe, to a military question.

Lastly, while I was sitting in the living room talking with the homeowner, Les and Beth, I saw a flash out of the corner of my eye.  It was like a digital camera flash and bright -- a white/gray color -- but not as bright as an actual camera flash.  As Beth and Les were facing the area of the flash directly and had no reaction, nor did the homeowner or her pug, I do not know what to make of this.  The homeowner did report seeing flashes of light come out of that room as part of her recorded phenomena.

Beth- In the formal dining room I heard "Mother", I wrote "Mom" in my notebook.  The word "Mother" came back to me three more times.  I wrote Mother over the word Mom and did not hear the word again.  I thought that was strange until the homeowner explained that she called her grandmother Mother Ruth. 

There was a feeling of energy in the kitchen.  The second bedroom that we entered had a feeling of heaviness.  In the master bedroom I felt dizzy and after some time I had the feeling of steady pressure on the back of my head. During the EVP session in the formal dining room I felt a strong feeling of energy at the time of the spikes on the EMF meter.  We did not get any EVP's on the digital recorder.

Les- Took photos and found a small orb on a dresser in the master bedroom.  EMF read high in the tv room and in the kitchen.  It remained steady at a 7 on the 0-100 range.  Low reading throughout the rest of the house. In the master bedroom the meter read a 1 1/2 and steadily moved up to 2 1/4 on the 0-3 range.

During an EVP session in the formal dining room the meter had two high spikes. The first and most significant spike came after the question "Are you Mother Ruth?"
