In our ongoing effort to clean up older investigations, this month we present an investigation from mid-2003. As with all ghost-themed research, this proved to be a unique opportunity for the then-new SPIRITS team members to test their skills in this mildly haunted home.

Upon arriving, the group noted several remodeling projects in the house. This is usually a good sign since, if ghosts are present, changing their surroundings often brings them out of hiding.

Despite this, the investigation was not highly active, though it did have some interesting components to it. The sensitives picked up animal entities residing on the property. EMF registered with both “sightings” and at least one picture captured an orb floating only a few feet above the floor.

The first animal-spirit was that of a feline which stayed near the front doorway. Its energy was not particularly strong, though the homeowner did confirm that a cat had lived in the house and had recently died.

The second animal stayed primarily in one of the bedrooms. It had a strong dog energy and sensitives guessed its breed to be that of a German shepherd. He was associated with someone who spent a great deal of time in the room suffering with a terminal illness, most likely cancer. Again, the homeowner confirmed that a German shepherd had lived in the house but that this particular dog was, to her knowledge, still quite alive and residing in another state. However, she also mentioned that many animals had dwelled in the residence and perhaps it was another dog of which she was not aware.

For the human revenants, the SPIRITS sensed several personalities. One was, again, the woman who stayed in the back room with a cancer-related illness. She suffered from nausea and discomfort and often went into the bathroom because of this. EMF registered near the bed and several orb images were captured in the bathroom area. After the investigation, the homeowner confirmed that there were two women in the house’s history that were diagnosed with cancer. One was pregnant a short time before her diagnosis and suffered during her term. She fit the description of the illness, often feeling sick to her stomach and staying mostly in the vicinity of the bedroom and bathroom. A short time after giving birth, the woman moved in the house next door and later died of breast cancer.

Sensitives were attracted the land surrounding the house. Some felt as if a suicidal hanging took place in the tree in the front yard, though no historic evidence was found that supported it.

They also felt that there were entities dwelling in houses all around the property. Digital and 35 mm camera snapshots captured orbs in neighboring yards and by an outside window. The mystery was solved when the homeowner explained that her family had built not only the house we investigated but also those surrounding the property. Over the years, they sold off the other houses but retained this particular home, which was used by various members throughout the years.

Though not every investigation possesses active manifestation, each has its own intrinsic value. All of the elements of research aid the SPIRTS of St. Petersburg in its continued quest to solve the mysteries of the spectral world.

Report of 20th Street North Investigation

May 1st

7pm-9:30p

This investigation was extremely interesting to me since the homeowner is a very close friend of the family. I knew this house had some history as her son, a good friend of mine, had always felt uncomfortable living in the house. He would tell me stories of how it would frighten him - and sometimes wake him out of a dead sleep with a feeling of un-easiness. There were times when he would move out completely simply because he just couldn't take the feeling of the "presences" there any more.

When we arrived we did our silent walk through and decided to concentrate on the dining room and back bedroom. We also decided to go out side and explore a nearby tree.

In the dining room a male was sensed just sorta "hanging out". The name George came to mind and his age was sensed to be in his 50s. He knew he was dead and was making it clear that he wanted the house back. He is always roaming the house looking for something. He did not indicate what. There was also the sensation of a male in his 20s. He had dark hair and was wearing faded jeans. He seemed unhappy. H appeared to be wearing faded jeans. The name Chad was what was sensed. He displayed a feeling of confusion and did not particularly like where he was. He is not aware that he is dead and is afraid we are going to hurt him. We assured him that we were not.

Another presence was first felt here and that was that of a dog, possibly a Shepard. He kept jumping in a circle around Sandy and continued to follow us around the house as we went on with the investigation.

We then moved into the back bedroom where a woman was sensed on the bed. It seemed that this was a place of memory for her. This room was a bit cooler - although at one point I registered a 10 degree temperature spike. The closet in this room drew a lot of attention from Sandy. She kept feeling the sensation of repression. There was a moment when she heard a knock come from that closet. It was sensed that the woman in this room knows the homeowner. Sandy and Denise kept sensing that this woman would make frequent trips from the bed to the bathroom and that she wasn't well. The name Rose or Dorreen came to mind. The woman was dressed in a white nightgown. The "dog" followed us into this room and Denise picked up the name Oliver for the dog. It seems that "Oliver" watches over the woman.

We did register one severe EMF spike in this room.

We then moved outside and Sandy kept sensing people in the windows of the house next door. Denise felt that someone was hung in the tree above. At one point she got a sharp pain on the side of her face the developed into a headache. It was here that I captured a clear image of a possible "red" orb.

We then closed the investigation inside and interviewed the homeowner.

From my personal relationship with the homeowner I do know that her late husband's family used to own the land around this property. At one point there was family spread out all over. Also - the homeowner has seen on several occasions someone standing in the window that would correspond with the closet that Sandy felt the repression. Also after the investigation I learned that the homeowner did have a family member, female, that lived in the house and was pregnant suffering from morning sickness and would often go back and forth to the bathroom - she later developed breast cancer and passed away at the home next door. (Where Sandy saw people standing in the windows) The homeowner mentioned that the home next door was not a "happy house" and had witnessed many deaths.

Jeanne's report

The house was in the process of being renovated, so there wasn't a lot of furniture, and the walls were bare. We started a walk through in the front. It was a screened porch, with a small bedroom and bathroom to one side. No meter readings there.

Then we proceeded to the living room. Again, no readings for me. We entered an area that we called the breakfast nook. The sensitives picked up a man there. He was in his 20's, with black hair and faded clothes. They said that he seemed confused, and was trying to hide from us. I got no meter readings there, but took pictures.

We entered the kitchen, and nothing was unusual there. Then we went into the back bedroom. The walls were painted a dark gray, which gave it a concrete block-like look. The sensitives felt a lot in this room. There was a bed, and they said that they felt a woman there, going between the bed and the bathroom. They thought that she had been sick in this room, possibly with cancer. Some of the members were getting meter readings, and feeling cold spots near the bathroom door. I took pictures all around there, but got no meter readings myself. They also sensed a large dog in the room. One of the sensitives said that they saw lots of children passing through the room, going from one closet to the other.

After the house, we went out into the yard. There was a large tree that the sensitives said emitted a lot of energy. One felt that the young man was connected to this tree. They said that he was possibly mentally ill, and had committed suicide.

We went back inside and met with the owner. She told us that her family has owned the house since it was built in the 20's. She knows of no one that has died there, but her father in law had died across the street. She didn't know who the young man could be. One female relative had lived there, and stayed in the back bedroom. She did have cancer, but did not die from it. She said that they had had many dogs there over the years. In conclusion, I didn't get any readings on my ELF anywhere in the house. My camera gave me a little trouble, though. The picture counter was off. It said that it was up to picture 32, but it was a 24 exposure roll. This has never happened before, and I thought that maybe it was loaded wrong. I got the roll developed, and got 19 prints, numbered 1-19. I can't figure out why the counter read 32... Anyway, we found nothing unusual in my prints.

Livingroom: 1.5 EMF, 75 degree temp flux. Small white patched of white on the maroon walls.

Narthex: 1.15-1.30 EMF, 78.5 degrees.

Front bedroom: EMF 1.25-1.50

77.5-80 degrees.

Breakfast nook: 2.5 -2 EMF, 75.5 degrees temp

Denise put her recorder in the room.

Kitchen: 2 EMF, 77.5 EMF

Laundry room: 2-3 EMF

Refridge in kitchen

Back Bedroom: EMF 1.25

Investigation:

Breakfast Nook: Denise picked up on a male entity, older man, hangs out here, wants his home back.

A second entity was picked up, a male with black hair, dark complected, lean, dark eyes, 20s

The last thing he remembered: confusion, not all therepossibly with emotional problems, a suicide, hanging. Perhaps related to a tree on the property.

Kitchen: Dog was sensedperhaps a shepherd or a bigger dog.

Again, someone picked up on the male presencehe kept dodging in and out of the area with us.

In the third bedroom, Sandy felt a tingling sensation, Brandy felt cool.

Sany had a heavy feeling, felt sick, ill. She noticed that there was a bathroom in the area. She felt that something had happened in that area. That the entity was so sick that it spent a lot of time in the bathroom.

Denise sensed the dog running around.

At 7:50 Amy felt a tug on her camera.

The entity was a female, and had appendicitis, or, Denise thought, ovarian cancer.

She was in her 30s or 40s, thin, small breasted woman by the name of Rose (according to Sandy) or Doreen (according to Denise).

The dog was also presence, and Brandy felt a breeze go by her arm as she sat on the bed next to the closet.

The dog's name was picked up as Oliver (?) and it was possibly put to sleep.

The dog is a guardian of the woman in the room.

Also, one person sensed children running through the house, and into the closet.

Brandy took one Polaroid picture while there, at 8:03.

EMF spiked from 1.5 to 2.0

Sandy sensed someone next to her. Asked us to take pictures around her. Pictures from various cameras picked up an orb next to her near the bathroom doorway, or in the bathroom doorway.

Going outside, the sensitives picked up energy coming from an older tree. They also sensed a male entity near the tree. They picked up entities in the houses behind and next to the house we were researching. The one in the house next to us was particularly interested in what we were doing.

Denise started to feel as if someone was chocking her. Amy got a red orb image, and we opted ot leave the area at that point.

Amy did tell us that at one point there was a school and a halfway house located across the street.

Sandy sensed a cat near the entrance way as we went back into the house. Amy told us there had been a cat there at one point, but that it had recently died.

Interview: Homeowner interview revealed some details about the woman in the back bedroom. One of the former homeowners had bone cancer and had part of her leg removed. She had rested and resided in that bedroom. Later, the homeowner sent an email telling us that another person had been in that room while she was pregnant. She had then moved out to the house next door where she died.

She had no knowledge of any male entities in the area. The halfway house was for pregnant teenage girls. It is unknown if there are any connections to a male death around the property, though the homeowner knew of none.

The homeowner revealed that her husband's family had purchased the property many years ago. They had converted it into homes, where various members of the family had resided. These homes included the house next door and the house behind the property, where sensitives sensed other entities. Over the years, the houses were sold off, though this house remained in the family.

The homeowner also revealed that she felt the presence of the woman who had cancer, who, memory serves, was her mother in law. The mother in law did not die in the house, but the homeowner recalled her with fondness. She said the entity was a safe one, filled with love and warmth for the family.

There had been a myriad of dogs and animals who lived on the property over the years. At least one was a German shepherd, though the homeowner recalled that the dog was still living up in Colorado.

Her son, however, who had stayed in the house was not comfortable there.

While the SPIRITS were there the house was also undergoing some remodeling. This may have had an impact on the amount of activity experienced.

Orb photos did appear on several digital camera shots, though most of the activity was very mild. I was stunned to discover that one of my 35 mm shots caught an orb on the outside of the house, next to a window. The homeowner told us that she often sense the entity looking out of the window.

From the homeowner:

I remembered something about the people in the house. My second cousin lived in the house for a few months during her second pregnancy. She was sick all the time and in the bathroom. She got breast cancer right after the baby was born. She lived next door until she died a year later. Does that help?
