Scott's report:

While Brandy was opening the hunt I got the feeling of a older man standing behind me. A cold breeze blew across my back and I felt a light cold finger touch my neck. I got a message that told me to go outside. As soon as my group of Denise, Jen and myself were outside the man gave the impression to me that he was actually from the neighboring house and that he watches the women of the home through the windows. He wasn't a bad person, but look after them as a Grandfather. He then walked back over to the other home.

I feel that the paranormal event accruing in the home are directly related to the daughter of the home owner. She is a developing psychic and she will become a stronger if she choice to focus on her talents.

17th Ave.

6:50  8 p.m.

Present:  Deanne, Jen, Scott, Cathy, Chris, Denise, Brandy

We split into two groups, with Denise, Scott, Jen going outside, Brandy, Deanne, Chris and Cathy staying inside.  Then the two groups switched locations.

Note: EMF was high in the house.  I used the 0  100 scale for most of the investigation.

Denise also bought a video surveillance camera, which she set up in the daughter's room.  Infrared, sound both on.  Cathy and Chris set up their camera in the MA bedroom.

Study/dining room: 

Temperature:  84 degrees

EMF:  0  100:  3. 0 base.

Chills on legs, though house was warm (A/C was off)

Kitchen:

1.5 EMF

81-83 degrees

EMF fluctuated between 1.5 and 2.0

Second reading (we went into the utility room outside) was 3.0  4.0 in the same area.

Laundry room:  91 degrees.

EMF not recorded.

Living room:

2.5  3.0 EMF

83 degrees

Note:  EMF from Denise's TV/camera set up was about a 6.0

Bedroom 1 (MA bedroom):

Though temperature was the same as the rest of the house, it felt tangibly cooler in that room.

Discussion:

Scott:  Energy in family was tangible; especially around daughter

No real spirits present; felt one when he stood by the front door.  It tapped him on the back of the neck and motioned him outside.  Then it was gone. 

Scott thought that there might be a ghost that looks into the windows.  (Denise thought the entity had a "K" name).

Cathy:  Energy in the family

Denise:  Whatever is present is around the daughter

Chris:  Felt something in the kitchen; felt like something repetitive happened there (walking into the room and looking around)

Deanne:  None

Brandy:  Noted higher EMF, but nothing really out of the ordinary.

Group agreement:  EVP in daughter's room

Second walk through:  Daughter's room

Denise got the name "Darlene" or (darling).

Someone sensed a male energy kneeling by the bed.

Homeowner interview:

Read notes from homeowner. 

Reports incidents on the increase in 2005.  These include:

*Silhouette of a woman in the hallway (old lady type of nightgown)  reported by male homeowner who bought the house and lived there for 30 years.   An old lady was reputed to have died in the home before he bought it.

*A little girl who walked out the door (1 time only, witnessed by 2 people)

*Answering machine playing messages at 12:30 a.m. though no one was near the machine

*Daughter hearing voices (near the time that one of her friends/acquaintances died)

*Knob on daughter's stereo has come off on its own, volume turned down

*Toilets flushing in the middle of the night (no one in bathroom)

*Kitchen faucet turned on by itself

*Saw a "hag-like" figure crawling on its hands and knees in the hallway.

*Another "guest" dog started to bark at daughter's bedroom

*Sounds of footsteps (on roof)

*Shortly after mother's death, had soda dumped on a table when no one was near it.

*Found paper towels at home off of the roll as if pulled off.

*A crystal dish in the kitchen fell and broke when no one was near it

*Daughter reports seeing kitchen lights come on and off after they were put on a motion detector.

During discussion, Chris got the name "Katelynn"

SPIRITS discussed a grandfatherly spirit outside  homeowner did add that one night while sitting in her chair she saw movement out of the corner of her eye.  She saw someone going up the sidewalk, but when she turned to look, no one was there.

The older woman spirit inside (former homeowner who died on the property) was probably a residue.  She didn't really interact with anyone but was frequently seen in the hallway and kitchen (Chris's notes above).  Only once did she come into the bedroom but startled the homeowner.  She had not been back in that room since that confrontation.

The two incidents with the soda and paper towels were probably her mother trying to get through to her; isolated incidents, not related to the ghost they called us in to investigate.

Most agreed that there was a lot of energy within the family.  The mother's side has some psy ability (her mother communicated with her great-grandmother).  The daughter, who is 12, has an interest in ghosts.  Most of the incidents appear to happen around her.  She is most likely a developing psy.  (The only time my EMF meter went off in any form of flux or spike was when we mentioned her as a psy.  The meter spiked with "Developing telekinetic" as a description was mentioned. 

Conclusion:  Overall, this investigation had very little activity either sensitive or equipment-wise.  The old lady ghost is probably just a residual energy.  The little girl hasn't shown up since so may be a walk through (literally).  Mother's activity occurred near enough to her own mother's death that it is likely a crisis apparition trying to get attention. 

Advised the daughter to keep a diary, noting her feelings when things happened around the house.

On Saturday, Oct 22, the team responded to 17th Ave and attempted a paranormal investigation.  This was a small home where the father, mother and daughter were the only occupants.  I attempted to use an infrared camera and TV/VCR to view the daughter’s room in attempt to see anything of interest.  I was able to catch a significant amount of dust coming up from the carpeted floors.  Other than that, I did not see anything of interest.  We also attempted several EVP’s and digital photography.  Again, I found nothing. 

The only information I received through my psy abilities was a residual of an elderly female in the home.  She was not a ghost or current entity.  The homeowners did state that an elderly female had passed away in the home prior to their occupying it.  It is possible this was the same residual energy I sensed, but at this time, there is not enough information to confirm this theory.

I do feel that the daughter has some psy abilities and may be causing some of the events to occur without her knowledge.  I.e.:  lights flickering, hearing things, etc.  The mother may have some underlying abilities also.  At the time of our investigation, I do not feel the home was being haunted by anyone other than the three living family members.

Since the house was very small, Group 1 did the silent walk-through inside first, while Group 2 went outside.  After both groups had inspected both the inside and outside of the house, we held a short group meeting outside in the front yard.  No specific entities were detected by either group, although some sensitives reported something to do with a K-name (Kanter, Karen, Katelyn?) and Scott felt that he had been touched on the neck then invited to leave by a grandfatherly figure who then left and walked next door.

The homeowners (father, mother, 12-year-old daughter) reported some very definite sightings and phenomenon.  The father had lived in the house alone for 16 years, the wife came to live there in 1989 and the daughter was born some time after that (1993?).  While living there alone, the homeowner reported seeing an old lady in a nightgown several times in the small hallway between the bedrooms and the bathroom.  One night she left and went out the front door, which he heard.  He had also sighted a little girl in the house who came into the bedroom one night.  The mother reported hearing things in the kitchen when no one was in there.  She said that one time a soda had fallen off the table when no one was around, and a crystal dish had fallen out of a cabinet and broke, also when no one was in the kitchen.  The daughter reported hearing voices and hearing the toilet flush when no one else was around.  She also said her stereo turns itself down and the answering machine plays when no one has called or pressed playback.  The kitchen light is on a motion detector, but it will go off and on when no one is near it.  Once, a visiting dog spent a lot of time barking at an apparently empty room.

The family reported that there was a strange old man who lives next door, but he had only been there a few years.  Was he astrally projecting?  They also said that the previous owner, an old woman, had died in the house.

My equipment:  No unusual compass or temperature readings.  Temperatures inside and outside were around 83 degrees.  My voice recorder did not pick up any EVP, my digital camera did not pick up any orbs or unusual shapes.

After talking to the family members, the group generally concluded that the daughter may have some psychic ability and may be causing some of the phenomena.  The ghostly figure in the nightgown may be the previous owner.   My conclusion:  Ooops, missed again.  The ghosts of the house must not be there all the time.

Weather:  Humid

Time of day:  Close to dusk

I still do not know what to say about this hunt.  I think it is within the family, as was mentioned, the focus being on the daughter.  I think it had much energy almost spinning everything together making it hard to get one particular thing.  Does that even make sense?

I did discover a few orbs later that night after reviewing my pics.  Perhaps there was more to it then we picked up??

As you all giggle...(:  I still think there is something with the "flowers and vanilla pudding."  Perhaps it is linked to the old lady who apparently passed away in the daughter's bedroom.  You know, I hate to admit this, but when we (Scott, Denise & I) were ready to go outside, I did get a fleeting image of an old woman with a button down type, white and oversized (not actually flowing) gown on.  She would be about my height , perhaps a bit taller with wavy white shoulder length or a bit shorter hair.  She was just "there."  Not mad, not happy, not frustrated, not crawling, just "there."  I do not yet know the difference between residual feelings and "I am still here" feelings, but I would say this was probably residual.  I am curious as to what Denise saw in the woman she sensed.  I am sending a little generic drawing of what I saw.  I know. it looks like a scary postage stamp, at least that is what everyone at work is saying!  Everyone loves to make fun of poor ole Jen!  Anyways, around the old lady time is when I picked up on the "vanilla pudding" and "flowers.".  I did not mention her because at the time Scott was picking up on the male presence and with me being a beginner, I automatically did not go with my gut instinct simply assuming my mind was grabbing at anything and everything.  I know, Bobby and I are both guilty (Bobby!) of this and IT HAS TO STOP!  (:  Of course then the family mentioned her and I was not going to jump in at that point as it would seem just a tad suspicious (I was already catching the vanilla pudding slack!!!), but that is the truth darn it!  I need to just start trusting myself  (Bobby!) and spitting it all out, however it sounds and however annoying I get!  Aren't you all so excited now??!!  (;  I wish we could find family members of the lady who passed at the house so they could verify my pudding theory!

Ghosts, like people, come in a variety of manifestations.  One of the most difficult aspects of paranormal investigation is deciding which category of ghost to which an entity belongs.  Typical to the SPIRITS definitions are the following six categories:

Crisis Apparitions: One time manifestation usually to announce a death or to impart important information.

Ghost (Haunting)/Site Recording: Repeated phenomena; ghost does not alter behavior or acknowledge the living.  It’s a site “recording”.

Apparition:  Full-formed interactive ghost.  These can attach to people, places or things.  They can also become “drop in” entities, with no prior relationship developed to site or to the individuals involved.

Accidental OBE (Living ghosts):  Trauma or sudden emotion allows a living person to transport the mind elsewhere, usually to loved ones.

Intentional OBE (Living ghosts):  Trained individuals who transport the mind outside of the body intentionally.

Poltergeist:  A questionable entity; known as a “noisy ghost” it is either an independent entity attracted to individuals, or a side process of subconsciously channeled energy.  Poltergeists usually appear around adolescents who are channeling ambient amounts of energy created through emotional, physical, and mental changes leading to adulthood.  Several cases of poltergeist phenomena are reported to have ended once the human agent reached a certain age.

The SPIRITS of St. Petersburg investigation at 17th Avenue held elements of several types of entities.  Reported by the homeowners were the following activities:

Some of the phenomena was also attributed to possible poltergeist activity, centered about a human agent.  Most agreed that there was a lot of energy within the family.  The mother's side has some psychic ability.  The daughter, who is 12, has an interest in ghosts.  Most of the incidents appear to happen around her, and considering several dramatic events in her life, her age, and her interest, she may be a developing psy. 

The little girl hasn't shown up since so may be a one-time drop in apparition who has gone on to another location or crossed over since being sighted.

As this article demonstrates, it is not always easy to pin a haunting to one entity, or even a single type of entity.  A series of circumstances can alter any location, leaving a wide berth of possible conclusions.
